Vintage 2025, is a year to get excited about in the Mosel. After frost devastated the 2024 crop, the region came roaring back with healthy fruit, beautiful ripeness, and the kind of bright, precise acidity that makes Riesling sing. Growers are already comparing it to the legendary 2015. This Rotschiefer (Red Slate) captures that energy perfectly. It comes from the rare red slate soils of Ürzig and Erden, two of the Mosel's most distinctive villages. Juicy red apple leads the way, lifted by zesty citrus. Then the slate takes over, adding a savory, peppery spice and a hint of wild herbs. The finish is dry, crisp, and glowing with fresh tangerine. It's a vibrant, terroir-driven Riesling from a vintage you'll want to stock up on. The Mosel produced 743,000 hectolitres of must in 2025... that is up by 45 per cent from 2024, and the regional VDP describes the wines as aromatic, deep, and extract-rich, with fine acidity, excellent balance and great aging potential.
