The 2020 Le Galouchey "Vin de Jardin" is perfect wine and embodies everything I love about wine. It displays an impeccable sense of verve, balance and vinosity, as well as flat-out deliciousness. This blend of all the Bordeaux varieties is grown without any chemical intervention on a tiny parcel across the Dordogne river from the Libournais called La Chapelle.
Fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in used oak for three years, it has aromas and flavors of blackcurrant, red and black plum, cherry, cedar, violets and cloves. The palate is expressive and alive. Coming in at a perfect 12.5% abv, this wine is a joy to drink now and for the next 15 years. Bravo to Marco Pelletier, the former sommelier at Michelin Three Star Le Taillevent, for this remarkable achievement.
