The 2021 Cabirau Rhone blend is without a doubt one of the best buys we have encountered this year at Hi-Time. This full-bodied stunner is loaded with rich fruit flavors and baking spices which seduce the palate and is definitely a crowd pleaser. We made a special purchase and can now offer the wine at $10.00 off the regular price. This brings this wine down to only $14.99 per bottle!
This wine always receives high praise from the wine critics and received a score of 93 Points from the Rhone loving critic Jeb Dunnuck. In addition, Dunnuck's review stated "Always a brilliant value as well as a terrific wine," "it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish."
Importer Dan Kravitz had been importing wine for nearly three decades and became aware of a vineyard with excellent potential. He took the plunge and purchased the vineyard in the Roussillon. Domaine Cabirau is located in the town of Maury, which has become known as an area where one can grow high quality grapes at a reasonable price. You may recall Dave Phinney makes several hugely popular wines from nearby vineyards.
The Serge & Marie cuvee is comprised of 68% Grenache which comes from 60-year-old vines and 32% Carignan. All of his vineyards are planted on steep slopes of schist and are manually harvested with strict sorting of the grapes to ensure the highest quality. The attention to detail and focus on quality show in this wine which showcases perfectly ripened fruit, amazing freshness and a very long finish.
This wine has tons of flavor and represents an outstanding value which satisfies both the palate and the wallet. Don't miss it!
JEB DUNNUCK 93 POINTS - "Always a brilliant value as well as a terrific wine, the 2021 Maury Sec Serge & Marie is based largely on Grenache yet includes one-third Carignan. Black cherries, darker raspberries, dried violets, loamy earth, pepper, and sandalwood all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish. This cuvée always shows the perfumed, riper style of Maury yet never comes across as heavy or cumbersome, and if anything, this 2021 could easily be mistaken for a beautiful Pinot Noir. It's perfect for enjoying any time over the coming 7-8 years."
