"A structured and focused red with aromas of wild berries, dried herbs, bark and baking spices. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. The structure is omnipresent here with an oaky feel at the edges and a spicy touch as well. Focused and serious with a long flavorful finish..." - JAMES SUCKLING
"Clear and bright red wine, with an intense ruby-red color… High intensity on the nose with red fruit, cherry and toasted and roasted aromas… Tasty and fruity on the palate, it's reminiscent of licorice with toasted notes of toffee and vanilla. It has a marked degree of acidity and tannins, giving it body and a persistent finish. Long-lasting aftertaste of intense red fruits. Wood well integrated with the notes characteristic of ageing in American oak barrels, particularly vanilla and roasted notes…. Serve with rice dishes, chargrilled meats, red fish, cheeses and 72%+ dark chocolate." - WINERY NOTES
Made from 100% Tempranillo in the high-altitude, continental-climate region south of the famous Toro region (and southwest of Zamora). Dehesa la Granja was the 3rd winery for the highly-regarded Fernandez Rivera family, now on the 3rd generation, that was created in 1998 (Pesquera in 1972 and Condado de Haza in 1994 in the family's home region of Ribera del Duero came first).
