DAGUENEAU 2013 JURANCON DEMI-SEC 1.5 LITER LES JARDIN DE BABYLONE

Collector's note: this 2013 vintage marked the birth of the demi-sec in the iconic collection of the Jurançons of the Jardins de Babylone. First vintage and first masterful success: a crisp, tapered wine, crossed by an invigorating lemony and saline framework. A concentrate of fruit and Pyrenean terroir that shines today at the top. The nose, which has lost none of its brightness or freshness after almost 10 years in the cellar, opens with a truffle note quickly joined by an energetic lemony dimension, between bergamot, candied lemon and Timut pepper. A touch of honey brings just the right amount of sweetness. Then comes a long procession of fruits evoking, pell-mell, quince, yellow plum, pineapple, apricot but also a touch of candied rhubarb. The palate, both dense but tapered, stretches around a mineral, saline and peppery structure. It remains lively, eminently digestible and full of energy: the fruit twirls on the taste buds, animated by a juicy acidity. The sweetness is adorned with an incredible sensation of freshness. And the length is spectacular, carried by irresistible flavours of salt-candied citrus and rare spices. Magic!
