What a gorgeous purity of expression here! Great Valpolicellas offer some of the most enjoyable lighter-bodied reds out there for the price, and this is one of them. Pinot Noir and Gamay lovers will find a lot to like here, with its medium-light mouthfeel that dances on the palate with ripe, juicy red berries (red currant cordial, cherry) brought to earth by a subtle shading of sweetly fragrant tobacco, pepper and stony earth. Finishes cleanly, with an elegant resonance of those aromatic notes that makes you want to finish the bottle. Try this with fresher cheeses, fresh springtime pastas and even meatier fish dishes (trout, salmon, tuna). 12.5% abv. Fermented and aged 10 months in 4,000L oak barrels.

JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS - "Bright purple color. Aromas of pepper, black cherries, graphite and toast. Smooth attack, with dense fruit concentration, a medium body, velvety tannins and zesty acid. Chalky finish, but will evolve. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification." - Aldo Fiordelli

"Ca’ Fiui is a sunny hillside zone in the Val di Mezzane where Corte Sant’ Alda has set up their cellar. The wine is produced from Marinella’s youngest vineyard sites at approximately 15 years old, farmed organically from the initial planting and now using biodynamic principles and philosophies. This wines great expression of fresh intense wild fruit and deep cherry tobacco notes are buoyed with racy acidity and minerality combining to be at once both elegant and exciting.

Marinella Camerani is a woman ahead of her time. In the mid-1980s when she took over the family vineyard holdings and decided to begin farming and producing organically her Venetian industry counterparts were flabbergasted. Still today the Venetian old guard shuns this idea of organic production leaving Marinella and a handful of others as the only Biodynamic certified farms producing DOCG wines in the Veneto.
