ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 100 POINTS - "One of the "cult" producers to crop up in the early 1990s, Colgin Cellars' first vintage was in 1992, with fruit purchased from the Herb Lamb Vineyard, located on the lower slopes of Howell Mountain, just low enough not to be part of the Howell Mountain AVA. Colgin would later go on to buy land and develop vineyards at Tychson Hill (westside Saint Helena, purchased 1996) and IX Estate (Pritchard Hill, purchased in 1998). In 2017, Ann Colgin and her husband, Joe Wender, sold a controlling interest in Colgin Cellars to LVMH but remain active in the business."
"Supremely rich and concentrated, Colgin's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard nevertheless remains vibrant and energetic. Hints of bay leaf perk up scents of dark chocolate and black cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied, plushly textured palate glides easily into a prolonged finish redolent of loamy earth and red raspberries. Like so many of the world's greatest wines, it's a series of seeming paradoxes—in this case, ripeness and freshness, fruit and earth, density and vibrancy—that complement each other and emerge as an elegant, harmonious whole."
ANTONIO GALLONI 98 POINTS - "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill is a vibrant, expressive, all-encompassing wine. Dark and savory, the 2021 shows tremendous purity of fruit and exceptional balance. Dense dark fruit, mocha, spice and grilled herbs carry through to the huge, saline-driven finish. There's a bit of youthful tannin, but then again, this is Tychson Hill. More than anything else, I admire the wine's substance and overall presence. I can't wait to see how this ages. The 2021 married power with finesse."
