We're excited to have the 2015 Clos du Marquis from the famed Leoville Las Cases in the store. This is a gorgeous, full-bodied Bordeaux imbued with juicy dark fruits enveloped in velvety tannins. We had the opportunity to enjoy this wine in Bordeaux in April and can tell you this is a fantastic wine just entering its long drinking window. James Suckling agreed, giving Clos du Marquis 95 Points and calling it, "Full-bodied, creamy, velvety and voluptuous yet focused and pinpointed with intense dark-berry and chocolate flavors."

This is produced by the same wine-making team from Leoville Las Cases who lavish the same care and attention on this wine. This expertise in combination with the excellent terroir and epic 2015 vintage in Bordeaux make it no surprise that the wine is so good.

The name of Clos du Marquis, created in 1902, was inspired by the Petit Clos adjacent to the Château de Leoville and is produced from top terroirs of the Saint-Julien Appellation. These terroirs are located slightly to the west of the Las Cases Enclos vineyard and are surrounded by prestigious Classified Growths of Saint-Julien and Pauillac including Leoville Poyferre, Leoville Barton and Pichon Lalande. The Clos du Marquis offers a fine expression of the Saint-Julien character of structure, complexity, harmony, distinction and aging potential.

The walled vineyard producing the Clos du Marquis is made up of quaternary gravel that is older and finer than the Enclos gravel. The vines have an average age of thirty years and the grapes ripen later in this vineyard which is moderated by the micro-climate of the nearby Gironde river.

This is just what we want in a bottle of classic Bordeaux. Complex and delicious, this is ready to drink now with a short decant and also capable of aging if that is your desire.

This is a great opportunity to tap into the terroir and wine-making prowess of Leoville Las Cases from an exceptional vintage at the best price in the nation!

JAMES SUCKLING 95 POINTS - "Extremely perfumed with blackberries, plums and bark. Lemon-rind undertones. Full-bodied, creamy, velvety and voluptuous yet focused and pinpointed. Intense dark-berry and chocolate flavors. Really well done. Drink in 2021."

WINE ADVOCATE 93 POINTS - "A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Clos du Marquis gives up expressive notes of warm mulberries, kirsch and blackberry pie with touches of sandalwood, potpourri, anise and charcuterie. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a great core of rich, spicy fruit framed by plush tannins and finishing with an invigorating lift."
