Robert Rae, Peake Ranch and Christy & Wise vineyards flank the eastern and western edges of the Sta. Rita Hills offering layered, dynamic structure in this 100% Grenache. Robert Rae (organic) is an intimate 12-acre site perched high above Santa Rosa road overlooking the entire Sta. Rita Hills from its sunlightloving north west-facing clayloam vista. This fruit is all drive, fierce and potent. Peake Ranch (sustainable) rests just under Robert Rae protected from the elements in this silty-clay foundation impeccably farmed, providing vibrancy + texture. Wrapping it all together is Christy & Wise (biodynamic) with its intense bright energy coveted in the cooler west environs. We love whole cluster work for its intense aromatics and carbonic lift. This wine is fermented 100% whole cluster with wild yeast for a long, cool, gentle fermentation, 45 days on the skins. Pressed directly into neutral barrels for aging. Wine is only moved for bottling and SO2 is only added for the first and final racking in the smallest amounts for protective effect. With all of our wines, we nurture the rawness and purity found in our fruit sources in alignment with our goals of minimal intervention with maximum attention throughout every step of the process.
