From their prime vineyards in Montalcino's warm southeast, this wonderful estate's Brunello delivers flavor-saturated complexity, full-body vinosity and mouth-filling tannins, all in elegant fashion! This comes from the all-around-great 2016 vintage and, like our #1 and #2 wines, it was held in our temperature-controlled cellar so we could offer you a benchmark Brunello with the bit of the extra age it deserves!
The winery also has a great story behind them: the estate belonged to nobility for centuries, but when countess Elda Ciacci had no heirs to pass it on to, she left everything to her estate manager, Giuseppe Bianchini. Having farmed the land himself over the years, he already had ideas for improvements that would yield world-class wines. Today his children carry on making some of the best Brunellos every vintage. Practices organic farming.
WINE ENTHUSIAST 97 POINTS *CELLAR SELECTION* - "Red-berry, wild-rose, crushed mint and dark-spice aromas are front and center on this fragrant red. The full-bodied palate is concentrated but also boasts finesse, offering layers of raspberry jam, smooth licorice and tobacco alongside a backbone of enveloping, velvety tannins. You'll also detect the warmth of alcohol but the succulent fruit stands up to it."
WINE ADVOCATE 95+ POINTS - "The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino (with 56,000 bottles made) shows bold cherry, spice, crushed stone and balsam herb that come together in seamless fashion. This estate has honed a unique style that becomes a common theme traced to each new vintage. I'd describe it as delicate but also succulent with a rich and almost pulpy quality of fruit. The wine is fueled by the golden light that hits this part of Tuscany in those last hours of the day. Here is a wine that shows spirit of place."
