Few Pomerol estates capture both history and terroir as beautifully as Château Tour Maillet. This small, family-run property traces its roots back generations and have long been part of the Pomerol landscape. The estate is one of the appellation's under-the-radar treasures.

Tour Maillet's estate vineyards lie just a short distance from the legendary Pétrus plateau, on the same band of deep clay-gravel soils that define the very best terroirs. Here, old-vine Merlot flourishes, producing wines with both power and elegance in true Right Bank style.

Jeb Dunnuck gave Tour Maillet a 95 Point score, describing it as, "Gorgeously concentrated on the palate, it has fine, ripe tannins, a broad mid-palate, and a layered, round, and textured mouthfeel."

James Suckling gave the wine a 94 Point score stating it's a, "Solid Pomerol with chocolate and berries. Velvety and fine-textured tannins. Medium body. Fresh finish."

Some of the greatest and most expensive wines in the world are made in Pomerol with Chateau Petrus often selling for more than $4000 per bottle. This growing area produces only a small fraction of the wine produced from nearby St. Emilion. Fortunately, this standout value of the appellation in 2022 can now be enjoyed for only $34.99!

The 2022 Tour Maillet reveals a velvety, layered wine with aromas of ripe black cherry, plum and violets. The palate is dense yet supple, showing mocha, spice, and subtle earth tones wrapped in polished tannins. The finish is long, lifted, and classically Pomerol.

Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus and well-known enologist Michel Rolland have lent their expertise and consulted for Tour Maillet and their know how definitely shows.

Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then carefully sorted to ensure only the finest fruit makes it to vat. Fermentation proceeds parcel by parcel, respecting the nuance of each vineyard block. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, adding depth and refinement without masking the natural fruit purity.

This is a wine of striking intensity and supple texture, with layers of ripe fruit and fine-grained tannins. It is available at an exceptional price.

JEB DUNNUCK 95 POINTS - "The 2022 Château Tour Maillet is a 100% Merlot cuvée that delivers darker fruits, graphite, and serious minerality on the nose. Gorgeously concentrated on the palate, it has fine, ripe tannins, a broad mid-palate, and a layered, round, and textured mouthfeel. A serious, structured wine that spent 16 months in 50% new oak barrels, it should evolve gracefully for 20+ years."

JAMES SUCKLING 94-95 POINTS - "Solid Pomerol with chocolate and berries. Velvety and fine-textured tannins. Medium body. Fresh finish."
