White wines from Beaujolais are one of Burgundy's best-kept secrets. While the region is famous for Gamay, a small amount of Chardonnay is grown on the same exceptional granitic and clay-limestone soils, producing whites that combine Burgundian textural richness with a wonderful freshness. When the right producer focuses on this style, the results can be stunning.

Today we are excited to offer the 2023 Château de Poncie Beaujolais Blanc "Éclosion," a beautifully crafted Chardonnay from one of the historic estates of the region. Even better, a special purchase allows us to offer this wine for $24.99 - the lowest price in the nation.

The Wine Enthusiast gave this wine 93 Points stating, "This wine is substantial and entrancing" with a "rich, creamy palate." Think of this as a "baby Meursault" in terms of aromatic profile and texture. Beaujolais is historically tied to the greater Burgundy region. As such, it should come as no surprise that this wine delivers similar qualities to its famous sibling, but at a fraction of the price!

Château de Poncie is a historic property located in Fleurie dating to the year 949 in one of the most prestigious crus of Beaujolais. Today, Eddie Lachaux's team embodies a new generation of winemakers, bold and with a vision for the future. Pure and vibrant, the wines of Château de Poncié are a reflection of the team's philosophy and their meticulous work in the vineyards.

The Chardonnay for the this bottling comes from vineyards rooted in granite and clay-limestone soils, which provide both minerality and structure. These soils, combined with the slightly cooler microclimate of the estate's hillside vineyards, allow the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant acidity.

The vineyards are farmed with a strong focus on sustainable and environmentally responsible practices, with careful canopy management and low yields to maximize concentration and purity of fruit. Hand harvesting ensures only pristine grapes reach the winery.

After gentle pressing, the wine is fermented with care to preserve aromatics and texture. Aging on the lees helps develop the wine's creamy mouthfeel and layered complexity, while maintaining the bright mineral backbone that makes Chardonnay from this region so compelling.

For lovers of White Burgundy, this is a great opportunity to enjoy remarkable quality and complexity at a great price.

WINE ENTHUSIAST 93 POINTS - "This wine is substantial and entrancing. Lemon-gold in color, freshly-baked brioche and apple tart aromas perfume the nose flanked by white peach. The rich, creamy palate brings honeysuckle and quince forward supported by a floral acidity that runs over a stream of wet stone on the finish."
