Château de Chambert wines are produced in fine terroirs of the 300m high hills of the Cahors AOC Appelation in southwest France. Since 1690, Chambert’s Malbec wines have been enjoyed by kings, Popes of Avignon, Russian tzars and French officers of Bordeaux. Philippe Lejeune produces pure and exquisite terroir driven Cahors wines with the help of world re-nowned wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. Chambert’s 175-acre estate is the largest organic vineyard in Cahors (as certified by Ecocert) and is one of the 10 largest French vineyards using Biodynamics (with Demeter certification). The vineyard’s vine age averages 30 years, with a density of 5,000/ha and an average yield of 28 hl/ha over total 22 ha, at an average elevation of 288m above sea level. Sun exposure is directed from a south/ southeast trellis system.
85% Malbec, 15% Merlot
Very dark and dense color. Great red fruit aromas and subtle suave hints of perfumed violets and vanilla. Abounds with cherry brightness and red fruit purity, balanced upon a fine acidic spine. A deliciously modern wine though still the authentic, elegant style of Chambert.
