If you're interested in the set of 6 miniature liqueur bottles (6 x 3cl) , then you'll love the story of the Carthusian monks. It all began in 1084 with the founding of the Grande Chartreuse monastery . While the Carthusian monks are famous for their seclusion, they are even more renowned for their liqueurs! In fact, in 1605, the monks of the Vauvert Charterhouse reportedly received a strange manuscript from the Duke of Estrées… It contained the recipe for an "Elixir of Long Life" made from (get this) 130 plants! Then, it wasn't until 1764 that the apothecary brother of the Grande Chartreuse finally established the recipe for what would become "the Grande Chartreuse Herbal Elixir ." Initially, the monks used it for medicinal purposes, notably to treat local populations during the cholera epidemic of 1832. A few years later, a whole host of new liqueurs emerged from these discoveries, including the famous Green Chartreuse and Yellow Chartreuse . Today, two monks from the Grande Chartreuse monastery produce them in Aiguenoire, using a blend of herbs. The secret recipe is shared only by three monks. Each of them only knows two-thirds of it: two monks are needed to recreate it, one isn't enough! Ingenious, isn't it? ?? And in this set of 6 miniature liqueur bottles (6 x 3cl) , you will find a sample of all the liqueurs from the Grande Chartreuse monastery in 3cl format: 1 miniature bottle of Yellow Chartreuse , 43% vol. 1 miniature bottle of Green Chartreuse , 55% vol. 1 miniature bottle of Génépi , 40% vol. 1 miniature bottle of Yellow Chartreuse MOF (Meilleurs Ouvriers de France), 45% vol. 1 miniature bottle of Elixir 1605 Liqueur , 56% vol. 1 miniature bottle of 9th Centenary Liqueur , 47% vol.
