Davide Carlone used to just sell his excellent fruit to wineries of the Boca appellation (especially one of the benchmarks, Le Piane), but now we get to enjoy his own wine. The fruit is grown at high altitudes in the context of Piedmont and these varieties. This works out nicely as average temperatures go up, allowing for elegance in what are known to be powerful wines in need of time in bottle. This is drinkable now with some aeration, and shows a moderately deep, dark red-fruited core delivered with mid-weight feel, and a palate-caressing texture.
