Schiava (aka Vernatsch) is the fresh and lightly structured red wine of choice for refreshment in Alto Adige. Its character is reminiscent of Gamay, Pinot Noir or a lighter-bodied Grenache: lightly hued, with vibrant red fruits, an herbal tinge, and tea-like tannins. Fantastic with medium-textured, flaky fish (tuna, salmon, trout, ...) or as part of your aperitivo.
"Fresh floral aromas swoon around the glass as sour red-berry notes mingle with black tea notes on the nose of this pretty wine. Mouthwatering and crunchy, the palate is loaded with raspberry, cherry and wild herbs. Add a chill and try this with your next plate of cured meats or pan-roasted fish." — WINE ENTHUSIAST, Jeff Porter
