Distilled from a combination of Bere, Biodynamic and Organic barley, Bruichladdich Greener Still is designed to express both flavour and farming philosophy in the glass. Each barley varietal plays a distinct role. Soft florals on the nose, ripe orchard fruit and honeyed sweetness on the palate, and a velvety finish with a lick of vanilla and coastal freshness.

Matured for its entire 15-year maturation life in first-fill bourbon barrels, resting solely at the distillery on Islay. Greener Still honours our commitment to environmentally conscious growing and distilling.

The fourth in the Still Series
Greener Still joins Bruichladdich’s iconic Still Series – renowned for their striking, opaque, colour-coded bottles – which between 2006 and 2008 showcased the distillery’s experimental approach to maturation. While its predecessors focused on cask influence, Bruichladdich Greener Still shifts the emphasis from cask to field, celebrating greener growing and distilling.

“Bruichladdich Greener Still is a barley-forward whisky in every sense. The Organic, Biodynamic and Bere barley parcels each bring something different – texture, spice, fruit and this incredible malt character that runs right through the dram.”

The bourbon casks frame that complexity without ever overpowering it. You get soft florals on the nose, ripe orchard fruit and honeyed sweetness on the palate, and this effortless, velvety finish with a lick of vanilla and coastal freshness. It’s a whisky of precision and elegance, revealing profound depth the longer you sit with it.”

Adam Hannett, Master Blender

Bere Barley
An ancient landrace which adds incredible flavour to our whisky and vital genetic diversity to our soils, we have been exploring the importance of Bere barley since 2005.

Biodynamic Barley
Sustainably grown on a carbon-positive farm in Wiltshire, England, Biodynamic barley is the only exception to our 100% Scottish barley rule. We launched the world’s first Biodynamic Scotch whisky in 2021.

Organic Barley
We have been working with Organic barley since 2003. Grown on the Scottish mainland using no artificial input, it is the purest form of its terroir.

TASTING NOTES
Colour: Golden amber

Nose
A bouquet of soft lavender and sweet honeysuckle open on the nose, underpinned by gentle toasted oak. Orchard fruits and warming spice follow, bringing freshly baked apple crumble and a dusting of cinnamon sugar. As the whisky breathes, herbal notes of wild heather and fragrant rosemary come to the fore, adding a fresh, earthy tone.

Palate
Ripe, juicy pear is immediate on the palate, punctuated by touch of bright citrus. Warming spice follows, with the different barley varietals providing an elegant, malty backbone. Combined with the cask influence, the cereal-forward spirit reveals layers of cinnamon, chocolate caramel and honeyed citrus sweetness, adding to the whisky’s depth and complexity.

Finish
Effortlessly smooth with a soft, velvety mouthfeel that carries ripe orchard fruits and the caramelised sweetness of Portuguese custard tarts. A hint of vanilla from the whisky’s first fill bourbon maturation settles on the finish, while a subtle saltiness lingers – echoing Islay’s coastal breeze.
