Bosco Agostino is a small family-run winery that began in 1979 when Agostino's father, Pietro Bosco, started making his own product after years of supplying grapes to others. Their home is in La Morra, a part of the Barolo zone known for elegantly structured wines with lifted tones. This Dolcetto offers excellent value for a classic taste of the Langhe hills.
Contrary to the sweet almond and punchy fruit from some Dolcetto producers, this has a restrained perfume of dark fruits, violet and anise. It has a well-meshed acidity that gives it inner life, and an elegant, lightly chewy finish where the subtle, fresh-toned perfume lingers above an earthy base. It's a great choice as an aperitif red with small plates, charcuterie and softer cheeses. An authentic taste of Piedmont at a value price!
