WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTSI tasted a recent bottling of the NV Manzanilla Pasada en Rama Pastora, bottled in 2022 (clearly written on the back label) and in the context of the younger Manzanillas they are releasing, with complexity, depth and age. It has some varnish and nutty aromas, taking it toward a Manzanilla Pasada in terms of complexity and depth. This is a great wine, with an average age of nine years. There are 10,000 bottles released per year, and every year is now specified on the back label.

Barbadillo has turned into one of the most dynamic wineries from the Sherry district since the arrival of Armando Guerra, a well-known ideologist and terroirist (among other things) from SanlĂșcar. He has devised some new wines and unearthed some of the treasures that have rested and been forgotten in their cellars for years. They have evolved from three Manzanilla bottlings in 2015 to 10 in 2022! They have 450 hectares of vineyards and control a further 500 hectares from growers. They have a huge range of wines and have 30,000 barrels in their 30 cellars in SanlĂșcar de Barrameda.
They last bottled their oldest wines, the "Reliquias" in glass decanters in 2019. In November 2020, they presented the new format of these scarce and amazing wines that are now bottled once per year into half bottles.

***
From Manzanilla, SanlĂșcar De Barrameda wine region, Bodegas Barbadillo Pastora is an unfiltered Manzanilla Pasada produced from 100% Palomino grapes to enjoy with roasted nuts, Manchego and salty cheeses or grilled seafood dishes. Lovely with soft orange and nutty aromas on the nose concentrated and rich on the palate with dried orchard fruit, white florals, salty and nutty. Manzanilla Pasada food pairings: roasted nuts, Manchego and salty cheeses, grilled seafood.
