Hot on the heels of the legendary 2023 vintage, 2024 appears that it can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best its predecessor had to offer. Bedrock's "Heritage" bottling from their iconic Bedrock Vineyard is a vibrant expression of this exceptional year and the meticulous winemaking for which Bedrock is known, culminating in a sensational 98-point score from JebDunnuck.com's Audrey Frick!

It's easy to say that Morgan Twain-Peterson was born into the wine industry... so let's start there. As the owner and winemaker of acclaimed Bedrock Winery, a venture he co-owns with partner Chris Cottrell, Morgan carries on a rich family legacy as the son of Ravenswood winemaker and Zinfandel legend Joel Peterson. At the age of 5, Morgan was able to distinguish Merlot from Zinfandel, and being the son of Joel, that made for some early learning of winemaking basics and eventually the essential techniques for fine winemaking. But Joel didn't stop there. He went onto other wineries and regions to learn other methods, like working in the McLaren Vale region of Australia, and even working as a visiting winemaker at Château Lynch Bages in Bordeaux. Oh yeah... and he passed the Master of Wine exam!

This wine is a captivating tapestry woven from 135-year-old vines from the Bedrock vineyard, and is a field blend primarily of Zinfandel, Carginan, and Mataro, with whispers of other heritage varieties adding nuanced complexity. Grown in a vineyard farmed regeneratively and organically, this wine embodies a harmonious relationship with the environment. This mindful approach to viticulture likely contributes to the wine's vibrant character and sense of place. This vintage unfolds with aromas of ripe raspberries and black cherries intertwined with savory notes of dried herbs, dusty earth, and a hint of cracked pepper. On the palate, its both vibrant and generous, boasting juicy red and dark fruit flavors framed by supple tannins and a refreshing acidity that carries through to a long, expressive finish.

From the research we've done, the highest score Jeb Dunnuck and his respectable publication have ever given to a domestic Zinfandel or Zinfandel-blend is 98 points. Less than a dozen wines have ever acheived this score from them, but now, they have added another name to that list, as this release from Bedrock has earned that stratospheric 98-point score! JebDunnuck.com reviewer Audrey Frick writes this wine "slowly reveals red fruits, mint, saline minerality, and brilliant mouthwatering acidity", but you might call this your new favorite!

The 2024 Bedrock Vineyard Heritage sports a lovely ruby color with a translucent rim. The nose is riddled with Cherry, strawberry jam, subtle spice, white pepper, vanilla, lilac, smoke, and a touch of plum. Juicy, but no over-bearing on the palate, the wine has ample body, yet finishes fresh, with a touch of tannin at the very end. The flavors and texture go on and on!

JEB DUNNUCK 98 POINTS - "Owner/winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson (also a Master of Wine) and his friend and business associate Chris Cottrell continue to turn out some of the most compelling and focused expressions with the release of the 2024 vintage...not only do the wines offer a wide spectrum and transparency of site, they overdeliver."

"Officially certified regeneratively organic, with Tablas Creek among their few peers in this category, the 2024 Bedrock Vineyard Heritage Wine comes from the original vineyard where everything began for them. More reserved aromatically at first, it slowly reveals red fruits, mint, saline minerality, and brilliant mouthwatering acidity. Structured and detailed, it has excellent length and should age beautifully over the next two decades."
