This Dolcetto comes from one of the iconic areas, Dogliani, and Anna Maria Abbona has been called the Queen of it. The vines for the San Bernardo bottling have an average age of around 80 years and are grown at a remarkable 500-550m altitude (over 1,500 ft), giving the wine intensity, complexity, and a sense of energy. But this is also a hedonistic wine, obvious in its deliciousness on the palate! Surprisingly for the way wines at this tier are usually made, it's done only in stainless steel, relying on the bottle age to yield a wine that's in a prime place to enjoy now (though it has the ability to go further).
Black plum, blackberry, anise, herbs, almond flavors are given space in fleshy layers that are shaped into an elegant finish by soft tannins and well-balanced acidity. This is a must-try for Piedmontese wine lovers!
