Very cool and delicate nose, with complex wild and garden-herb aromas, plus notes of mirabelle and peach. Such a sleek, elegant and refined wine, it glides over your palate into a fabulous wet-stone splashdown at the super-precise finish. Drink or hold. Stuart Pigott.
WINE ADVOCATE - 94 POINTS The 2021 Ried Hohereck Riesling Smaragd shows a clear, elegant, finely spicy and mineral-fresh nose. Powerful and dense, but also full of tension on the palate, this Riesling is nowhere near as powerful as so many of its peers of the vintage. The finish is persistently salty, spicy and long. A remarkably complex Smaragd. Tasted at Schloss Durnstein, Wachau, in September 2022. Stephan Reinhardt.
