II Squared is the culmination of the two worlds, the Alpha and the Omega, the Old World and the New World. Winemakers, Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland worked to create a wine that is not only opulent, fruit forward and generous, but also has the backbone of European acidity and elegance. A reflection of both worlds, II is a wine that is built to be approachable, both in taste and price, and consumed early.
The 2021 II Squared Red is comprised of all five Bordeaux varietals; it's Cabernet Sauvignon-driven, with touches of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot to bring out the nuances in the blend. Aged in 25% new oak, the wine is inviting and expressive on the nose, showing aromatics of red cherries, blackcurrants, rose petals, cigar boxes, baking spices, and wet slate. On the palate, spicy red plum, nutmeg and molasses greet gentle, soft tannins, and a balanced, flavorful finish.
