We just made a special purchase of this delicious Wine Spectator 90 Point rated wine as the distributor needed to make room for the new vintage. After giving it a sniff, swirl and sip we were very impressed and immediately grabbed as much as we could. The 2011 Domaine de Nizas is precise, pure and beautifully layered in the glass with gorgeous dark fruit flavors and surprising complexity. Even better, the pricing on this one is ridiculous allowing us to put it on the shelf at $11.95 per bottle. With a regular price of $17.99, this is one heck of a value and the lowest price in the country by far!

This wine is a blend of Syrah (60%), Grenache (35%) and Mourvedre (5%) aged for 12-18 months in French oak. It comes from the medieval village of Pézenas in the heart of the Languedoc region and was first established in 1998 by French-American agriculturist, John Goelet. As a descendant of a distinguished Bordeaux family, he quickly identified the exceptional terroir of Pézenas as the ideal site to craft artisanal wines of extraordinary quality and depth.

Goelet enlisted Bernard Portet, who gained fame while working in the cellars of Clos du Val winery in Napa Valley for over 30 years. Portet’s touch is evident as he improved the vineyards, lowered yields and improved the quality of the wines. His experience in fine winemaking is very apparent, with this wine showing perfectly ripened fruit flavors with polished silky tannins and a long finish.

This delicious red blend is an ideal everyday drinker which makes an outstanding case purchase. While compelling at the regular price, the special close out pricing makes this one a steal. When it’s gone, it’s gone!

WINE SPECTATOR 90 POINTS - "Elegant, with roasted plum and black cherry fruit flavors showing savory spice, black olive and mocha accents. Bright acidity and integrated tannins add support through to the mouthwatering finish. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Drink now through 2018."
