75% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Canaiolo
Barco Reale is the junior appelation wine to Carmignano proper. Though dry, there's plenty of ripe dark-red fruits including black cherry, along with dried-herb like sage, cedar, and licorice. It's soft and rounded, with a mid-weight plushness and some velvet tannin, making it very easy to drink! Great with mid-weight dishes like braised meat in tomato sauce or pasta with sausage. Aged 6-8 months in fairly neutral mid-sized Allier and Slavonian oak.
