Toshimaya Honten is the oldest Sake Shop in Tokyo, Japan, established in 1596. The brewery is located in Higashi-murayama, in the middle of Tokyo. Here, they brew the sake called "Juemon," made of Hattannishiki rice. During the sake making process, this sake does not undergo filtration and is at cask strength (with a 17.50 ABV) , making it both Muroka and Genshu. The result is a mellow and slightly earthy sake with hints of melon and apple. This understated sake is harmonious in the presence of sashimi, tempura, and grilled beef. Juemon was selected as the sake to be poured at the G7 reception of agricultural ministers held in April 2023. We enjoyed it's light earthy notes and its subdued manner, all the while putting a smile on your face as you enjoy your meal. Serve chiled.
