Hi-Times is proud to introduce you to the winner of Whiskey Advocates 'Artisan Whiskey of the Year' - Low Gap Clear Whiskey. Crispin Cain created this lovely spirit, brought to us by the legendary Craft Distillers. It begins as Bavarian hard wheat, fermented into an 'un-hopped' beer, it is double distilled in a copper pot still to 65%-80% abv, cut with rainwater and then bottled. The nose reveals clean grains, crackers and fruit. It is very surprising. The palate is initially perfumed, full and fruity delivery daedal complexity in a soft sumptuous mouth-feel. The finish returns to focus on the grains and dissipates cleanly. This is a delectable offering and worthy of its award 'Artisan Whiskey of the Year', but that's hardly a surprise coming from Craft Distillers (famous for their Germain-Robin brandy). Try this whiskey neat of course, with ice or in a luscious cocktail.
