JAMES SUCKLING - 91 POINTS This bracing, but juicy and barely off-dry riesling has a slew of red apple, spring blossoms and fresh herb character. Long, very crisp finish with plenty of depth. Drink or hold.

From John Gilman...I learned on this trip that the superb estate Riesling from Weingut Egon Müller includes a sizable chunk of Saarburger Rausch in its blend, as the estate has a fine parcel in this vineyard that they choose not to bottle on its own. While part of my heart yearns to taste a Rausch bottling from Egon Müller, the realization that a significant percentage of the blend of this fine villages level bottling is from such a grand cru vineyard makes this wine even more attractive.
Müller's pale-colored 2014 Scharzhof #1 displays lovely ripe fruit flavors. Full-flavored, juicy and piquant on the palate, provided with typical Saar acidity, this is a lush and well focused Riesling with vivid acidity and good substance. Impressively good. - Stephan Reinhardt
