Chasselas is a white grape variety that originated in Switzerland, where it has been grown for centuries. Even today, it is mainly grown in the cantons of Vaud and Geneva and in Valais, where it is known as Fendant. Chasselas is appreciated for its delicate, refreshing taste. Wines made from this grape variety are generally light, fruity and well-balanced in acidity. Typical Chasselas aromas include notes of pear, white flowers and citrus fruit. Its freshness on the palate makes it an excellent choice to accompany light dishes such as lake fish, salads and fresh cheeses.
