STEPHEN TANZER 91 POINTS-"Bright medium ruby. Very primary, high-toned aromas of urgent crushed blueberry and blackberry accented by spices and flowers. Sweet, pliant and vinous; not especially glyceral or unctuous but shows lovely framing acidity to the intense flavors of blackberry, black cherry, fruitcake and minerals. This suave, fine-grained wine builds nicely in the mouth and finishes with firm tannins, a restrained sweetness and lovely lift. A distinctly wine-like port, bottled for the U.S. importer by Niepoort. My favorite vintage to date under this label."

WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "The 2013 Quinta de Senhora da Ribeira Vintage Port comes in with 100 grams per liter of residual sugar and was bottled in May 2015. It is a blend of 35% Touriga Nacional, 40% Touriga Franca, 15% Sousão and 10% Old Vines field blend. Showing very good concentration for the year and beautiful structure, this lovely Single Quinta Port is full in the mouth and very powerful in its youth. The beautiful fruit underneath announces its presence with some intensity--it tastes great, too. Palate coating and inky black, this should exceed expectations over the next couple of decades. After being opened for some five days, it sealed the deal. It became far more expressive, crisper and transparent. It also became remarkably delicious. It showed not a hint of fading or oxidation. It should age well. On the other side of the coin, you can approach it in several years with some decanting, but giving it about ten to 12 years from vintage date would be far better. Time will tell the whole story, but this seems pretty terrific right now and it still seems to have some upside potential as well. Notes: Part of Dow from 1890-1953 and reacquired in 1998, this Quinta is on the Douro's North Bank. There were 900 cases produced, plus some large format bottles."

INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR 90 POINTS - " International Wine Cellar - "Complex aromas of toffee, roasted nuts, lead pencil, orange peel and caraway seed. Intensely flavored fruit is silky but nicely delineated; offers a fresh flavor of orange peel. Not at all thick, but brisk and vibrant. Finishes clean and long, with hints of smoked nuts and marzipan. This has far stronger material than the 10-Year-Old, which seemed clumsy and dull in comparison."

WINE & SPIRITS 91 POINTS "Fruit interprets the alcohol in this wine with the orange-citrus scent of rum cake. Then Douro schist cuts the sweetness and strengthens the fruit presence to fuller pear, hazelnut and wildflower honey notes. It ends on a long, peppery buzz, delicious and satisfying."

ROBERT PARKER 97 POINTS - "An extraordinary Vintage Port, the powerful, exotic, multidimensional 1970 boasts a dark plum color with light amber at the rim. An intoxicatingly fragrant perfume of incense, liquorice, caramel, black and red fruits, and notions of saddle leather soars from the glass of its unctuously textured, full-bodied, velvety offering. This magnificent Port is finally hitting full maturity, where it should rest for another 20+years."

WINE ADVOCATE 93 POINTS - " Somewhat of a lightweight for Fonseca, but undeniably charming, this dark ruby/purple-colored wine offers a floral, exotic, flamboyant bouquet, a sweet, fleshy style, but not a great deal of weight or massiveness. Heady alcohol, sweet tannin, and a velvety texture make for a gorgeous finish. While I would have preferred to have seen more weight, structure, and intensity, this is an outstanding, albeit lighter than normal Fonseca. Anticipated maturity: now-2020."

STEPHEN TANZER'S INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR 93 POINTS - " Full saturated ruby. Inky, brooding aromas of syrupy black fruits and violet. Dense, thick and tactile, with superb depth of flavor and compelling juicy sweetness. Finishes with powerful tannins and superb grip. Not as flamboyantly aromatic as this wine normally is in its youth, but structured for long, slow development in bottle."

WINE ADVOCATE - "Lucid dark ruby color, the Bin 27 has a sweet nose of raisin and fig, complemented by copious dark cherry and black plum. The palate is sweet and spicy on the entry with that fig motif continuing with plush dark chocolate infused black fruit. The finish is short and abrupt, but there is a lingering peppery note to keep customer satisfied. The Bin 27 forms a perfect introduction to the delights of Port." (2/2013)

Graham's Late Bottled Vintage Port is a superb wine selected from the finest production of a very good year, but unlike a 'declared' Vintage Port - which is bottled in its second year, 'LBV' matures for an average of 5 years in seasoned oak casks prior to bottling (hence the term, 'Late Bottled'). This wood - ageing encourages the wine's development and it is therefore ready to drink sooner than Vintage Port. As with the latter, Late Bottled Vintage Ports are sourced primarily from the Malvedos vineyard.

WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS - " A superb achievement from a very underrated year. Deep dark ruby-purple, with rich floral and violet aromas, full-bodied, with masses of strawberry flavors, full tannins and a long finish."

WINE ADVOCATE 92 POINTS - "Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their tawnys are quite good rather than exceptional, but their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous. The 1983, like most vintage ports, seems more forward than normal but has a great depth of very ripe, viscous, unctuous, plummy, tarry fruit and significant tannin in its long finish. It is black-purple in color. I doubt that it will be either as profound or as long-lived as the great 1977, but is is certainly one of the top two or three ports of this vintage, and better than the excellent 1980."

WINE ADVOCATE 96 POINTS- "Still very dark and chewy with interesting notes of violets now showing in its deep bouquet. Plenty of development certainly lies ahead. Here is Robert Parker's take on this Titian from 1996: In a Port tasting, tasting Graham's is almost like tasting a big, rich, succulent Merlot after a group of blockbuster, tannic Cabernets. Sweeter and more obvious than many Ports, the opaque purple-colored 1994 is fruity, powerful, and rich, with an addictive hedonistic quality. It will be ready to drink in 8-10 years and keep for up to 30. As always, this is a showy, flamboyant Port that has the advantage of being slightly sweeter than other 1994s. A great Graham's."

Six Grapes has a seductive, rich aroma of ripe plums, cherries and dark chocolate notes. On the palate it's complex, with an excellent structure and a long, lingering finish. Six Grapes is one of Graham's original Port blends--it is a very full-bodied, luscious wine drawn from the same vineyards as Graham's Vintage Ports. Blended from two or three years' harvests, the wine is an average of five to six years old when it is lightly filtered and bottled.

WINE ENTHUSIAST 91 POINTS - "This special edition has been made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the familiar Graham's Six Grapes reserve Ruby. Selected from old vines in the Graham’s vineyards, it is dense and impressively ripe. Concentrated fruit dominates, cut with acidity as well as a dark texture. Rounded and rich, it's made to drink now. The label with symbols of six grapes was taken from original ledger entries—the Graham code for the highest of six possible classifications for wine destined to be vintage Port."

As would be expected from a wine made from such low yielding vines the Six Grapes Old Vines Port is deep purple in colour. It has complex floral aromas, redolent with rockrose, menthol and anise. The richness and opulent character of the wine is perfectly balanced by its refreshing acidity. It has great structure and concentration, with mineral notes that express the Douro’s schist soils, black plum and liquorice, all complemented by a lingering velvety smooth finish, the result of the ripe, fine grained tannins from these mature The Six Grapes Old Vines Port is a perfect wine to pair with desserts such as cheese, dark chocolate or berry fruits. It is also ideally suited to drinking after dinner to fully appreciate its long finish and complexity.

WINE SPECTATOR 96 POINTS - "Offers a decadently fruity aroma, with peppery accents to the cherry, raspberry and dark currant flavors that are lithe and juicy. Grippy tannins grace the mocha- and chocolate-infused finish. Best from 2025 through 2055. From Portugal."

WINE ADVOCATE 95-97 POINTS - "The 2011 Graham’s comes from the five quintas that have been the source for many years (Malvedos, Tua, Vila Velha, das Lages and Vale de Malhadas). It represents a selection of the 131 pipes from a total production of 1,454 and is a blend of 40% Touriga Naçional, 31% Touriga Franca, 6% Sousão and 23% mixture of very old vines. It has a more “serious” bouquet compared to the Dow, with beguiling scents of blackberry, wild hedgerow, tobacco and cloves. Straight-laced, very well-defined and compelling, the palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and supremely well-judged acidity. It is utterly harmonious, with a pure core of ripe black cherries, damson, marmalade, clove and spices, and the finish lingers long in the mouth. The separation of “The Stone Terraces” vines certainly does not appear to have detracted from a great Graham’s. 5,000 cases declared. Tasted May 2013."
