    Item #: i_379553
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Wine Advocate: 95
DECANTER MAGAZINE 96 POINTS - "5% of red wine has been added by assemblage from the legendary La Cote Aux Enfants vineyard in Aÿ. The resulting power is subtle, gastronomic and bewitching: as a corollary to a lighter, onion-skin colour, there's an intensity and length on the palate allied to perfect integration of the 8g/l of sugar and the legacy of both oak fermentation and long yeast maturation, the latter under cork. The vinous power is such that this will match rich, savoury dishes such as quail, venison, pigeon and guinea fowl. A triumph!" (AG) (2/2020)

WINE SPECTATOR 96 POINTS - "Enticing aromas and flavors of wild strawberry, apricot and Macadamia nut are woven with accents of saffron, ground ginger, honey and orange peel in this seamlessly knit rosé in a vinous style. Satiny in texure, with an overall grace that belies the powerful tension and focus throughout, driving the lasting finish." (AN)

JAMES SUCKLING 93 POINTS-"A 100% Pinot Noir here with a terrific floral nose: violets and red roses, some gently flinty reductive notes and red berries to boot. The palate's impressive thanks to plenty of tannin and a really impressive structure. Bold, long and very pure. Red-cherry-pip finish. Drink now."

  7. LOUIS NICAISE 2012 BRUT CUVEE LOUIS PAR LAURE 1ER CRU DISGORGED DECEMBER, 2016

    Item #: i_376844
    Bottle Size: 750ml
The Nicaise family has been making Champagne for four generations from their 22 acres of vines in the Premier Cru village of Hautvilliers a town famed as the home of Dom Perignon. The quality of this grower-producer really took a major step forward in 2007 when the latest generation, Laure Nicaise-Préaux and her husband Clement Préaux, officially started working at the house to help with the winemaking. Clément apprenticed at Selosse and worked at the Mailly co-op so he came armed with great training and experience. As his father-in-law has slowly yielded more control to him, Clement has lowered the dosages and improved the overall balance in the wines. From the excellent 2012 vintage this Chardonnay dominated (80%) Brut displays an effusive array of bright orchard fruits combined with outstanding precision and length. Drinks like a vintage Grande Marque costing twice its modest price.

  8. LOUIS ROEDERER 2012

    Item #: i_372984
    Bottle Size: 750ML
    Wine Spectator: 93
WINE ADVOCATE 97+ POINTS-"Aromas of clear honey, crisp green orchard fruit, white peach, pastry cream and dried white flowers introduce the 2012 Cristal, a full-bodied, concentrated and powerful wine that's built for the cellar. Broader, more textural and more muscular than the 2008 Cristal, with seemingly even greater reserves of structuring dry extract, the 2012 is incisive and searingly chalky. This is the first Cristal produced exclusively from organically farmed fruit, and it marks the opening of a new chapter for Louis Roderer. The blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, vinified without malolactic fermentation and disgorged with 7.5 grams per liter dosage. Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon has once again excelled himself."

JAMES SUCKLING 98 POINTS-"Such attractive, fresh, floral aromas here with fine bread, hints of white almonds and a lemon edge. White cherries and strong, chalky minerals, too. The palate has a very composed feel. Seamless and quite silky texture with effortless length and flow. Very fluid and composed. Very late, warming almond flavors. This is very long and smooth with a velvety finish. Super long pinot weight. Resolved and drinkable, but will age so well."

  9. LOUIS ROEDERER 2012 BRUT CRISTAL ROSE GIFT BOX

    Item #: i_379962
    Bottle Size: 750ml
WINE ADVOCATE 98 POINTS-"The 2012 Cristal Rosé is showing brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with a beautiful bouquet of fresh peach, bergamot, strawberries, tangerine and blanched almonds that's still quite reserved. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and strikingly complete, its vinous attack segueing into a multidimensional core that exemplifies the ideal of power without weight, built around a racy but integrated spine of animating acidity and complemented by an exquisitely refined mousse. All the concentration of the 2012 vintage is on display, but it's rendered with terrific finesse. Decidedly youthful and introverted—indeed, I spent several hours with a bottle to compose this note—the 2012 will really come into its own with five or six years in the cellar and displays all the attributes necessary for considerable longevity. It's a blend of 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay that saw no malolactic fermentation, and it was disgorged with eight grams per liter dosage."

WINERY NOTES: "Apples, stone fruits and wounderful aromas of freshly baked bread open to a full-bodied yet profoundly stony palate. Focused, fine and long on the finish, we beleive it will age well for at least a decade."

WINE SPECTATOR 94 POINTS-"A sleek, creamy Champagne, with an expressive range of toast, apricot, candied Meyer lemon zest, cassis and pastry cream set in a tightly knit and racy frame. 13. POL ROGER 2012 BRUT BLANC DE BLANCS MILLESIME

    Item #: i_374666
    Bottle Size: 750ML

    James Suckling: 94
"What is perhaps most impressive about Pol Roger's vintage wines is that while they definitely exhibit a distinct personality, adhering closely to the house's style, they are also extremely transparent in regards to expressing vintage character. These are Champagnes of renowned longevity, and stocking vintage Pol Roger away in the cellar is always a wise move." - Peter Leim, Champagneguide.net

Widely regarded as one of the best Champagne vintages of the Century (rivaled only by 2002 and 2008) the 2012 harvest produced smaller than normal yields of generally pristine fruit marked with exceptional flavor concentration. Pol Roger was particularly successful in 2012 as the reviews below attest. To our knowledge our pricing is the lowest on the web for in stock merchandise. We suggest a quick response as this is a one-time direct import-offer that is limited to current inventory, so once these gems are gone, they are gone for good.

TYSON STELZER-THE CHAMPAGNE GUIDE 96 POINTS - "(disgorged 26 March 2018; 100% Côte des Blancs grand crus: Avize, Oiry, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger; 7g/L dosage). For a house once led by Pinot Noir, Pol Roger is increasingly focusing on Chardonnay in its vintage wines, and recent vintages of its Blanc de Blancs demonstrate why. The 2012 proudly joins its greatest hits, alongside 2002 and 2008. This cuvée has been on allocation for some years, and the house has made the call to release 2012 after just five years on lees (2008 had a little under six years, 2006 had eight and 2002 had nine). Testimony to the molecular precision of Pol Roger’s exacting regime, the propensity of this cuvée to age is astonishing, and the best vintages keep on escalating every time I come back to them. With a bright, medium straw hue, this is a thrilling blanc de blancs that sings with the finesse of the house in exacting purity and drive to contrast grand cru concentration. It delicately sets beautiful yellow peach and lemon fruit against a dizzying shard of pure acidity. The finish surges onward amid powerful, crashing waves of salt minerality that glide long and strong up an endless beach of glistening white purity. (2020-2021)"

JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS - "Such wonderful transparency and clarity in its nature with lightly cooked apples and chalk. Some white pepper. Full body. Totally integrated fruit and acidity and a long and flavorful finish. Love the brightness. Drink now."

VINOUS WINE MEDIA 91 POINTS - "The 2012 Brut Blanc de Blancs is another attractive Champagne in this trio of 2012s from Pol Roger. Ample and creamy, the 2012 is super-expressive today, with plenty of apricot, brioche, baked apple tart and toasty character. An initial burst of exuberance gives way to greater refinement over time. This is very nicely done."

TYSON STELZER-THE CHAMPAGNE GUIDE 95 POINTS - "(disgorged 14 February 2019; 40% Chardonnay, 60% Pinot Noir; 20 grand and premier crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs; 7g/L dosage). This cuvée has been a mainstay of my personal Champagne cellar longer than any other.. The 2012 vintage is poised to go down among the great, enduring seasons for this regal house... The result is consequently youthful and vibrant, a celebration of crunchy strawberry hull, red apple and fresh lemon, with lees age lending subtle touches of almond nougat. Elegantly poised Pinot Noir takes its signature lead, confidently supported by the citrus cut and refined chalk mineral texture of Chardonnay. All of the beguiling purity of Pol Roger is on grand display in this electric season, and it holds its own effortlessly on a very long finish of great line and drive. It has a grand future before it, and will only become more enticing over the coming decade..."

WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "...the 2012 Brut Vintage offers up aromas of smoky peach, apples, pastry cream, white flowers and mandarin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with more volume and amplitude than its blanc de blancs counterpart, revealing racy balancing acids, an already refined mousse and the impressive concentration that typifies this low-yielding vintage. It's a classic blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay that saw seven grams per liter dosage. Drink: 2020-2045. (Apr 2019)"

JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS - "Harmonious and straight with clarity and beauty to the wine. Cooked-apple and light honey aromas and flavors. Full body. Such balance and creaminess to the texture and weight. Lovely now."

WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS - "Fine and creamy, with a delicate frame of mouthwatering acidity, this harmonious Champagne offers well-meshed flavors of yellow plum, biscuit and grated ginger. Floral, spice and mineral accents mesh with the finish. Drink now through 2027. 500 cases imported."

    Vinous Media: 93
VINOUS WINE MEDIA 94 POINTS-"The 2012 Brut Nature Rosé is rich, explosive and pulsing with energy. Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon adds an infusion of 25% cold soaked Pinot Noir into the same base wine as the 2012 Brut Nature, an approach that works beautifully in bringing out the energy and focus that make Champagnes from Cumières so distinctive. Even with all of its power, the 2012 is delicate, airy and full of nuance. This is such a gorgeous wine. I would prefer to drink it on the younger side."

JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS- The clarity of chalk and white almond is striking. Gentle perfume with some light cherry fruits, peach, grapefruit and lemon citrus. The palate has a piercing burst of lemon and grapefruit flavor on the front and builds into gently biscuity and more savory flavors through the middle. Holds on to bright zesty acidity into the finish. Smooth, resolved and balanced. Really detailed." (10/16)

  18. VILMART 2012 BRUT COEUR DE CUVEE 1ER CRU

    Item #: i_376107
    Bottle Size: 750ML
VINOUS WINE MEDIA 96 POINTS-"The 2012 Coeur de Cuvée is magnificent. In this vintage Laurent Champs balances the natural intensity of the year with tremendous energy and vibrancy, making for a Champagne of remarkable beauty. Like all the Vilmart wines, the 2012 Coeur de Cuvée is super-refined. Even so, it is also incredibly tight and nowhere near ready. I find its depth, power and tension absolutely compelling. Bright saline notes, spice and floral accents extend the eternal finish. The 2012 is 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. Disgorged: February 2019. Don't miss it!"

Vilmart Champagnes are no strangers to our Best of the Year list and we would be remiss in the extreme not to include a Laurent Champs offering from an outstanding year like 2012. Coeur de Cuvée is a singlevineyard prestige cuvée sourced from the 50-yearsplus-old vines of the Blanches Voies vineyard. Only the finest 800 liters from the middle (‘heart’) of the pressing is used to make the Coeur de Cuvée. This edition impresses with vinous intensity while managing to remain pure and lively on the palate. It’s layered on the palate with delectable lemon drop, pear, limestone and almond notes while the barrel vinification contributes subtle spice background notes to the ensemble.
