  1. ORIN SWIFT 2017 CABERNET SAUVIGNON "PALERMO" NAPA VALLEY 750mL

    Item #: i_248450
    Bottle Size: 750ml
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc aged for 10 months in 35% new French oak, Palermo is a portrayal of the patchwork of vineyards across the Napa Valley region. With fruit sourced fro the warmer Calistoga and St. helena AVAs down to the cooler AVAs of Coombsville and Oak Knoll, across to the unique microclimates of Pope Valley and Atlas peak, and finally to the famous soils of Rutherford and Oakville, this truly is the Napa Valley in a bottle.

A dark garnet hue sits in the glass with immediate aromas of ripe cassis and blackberry. Hints of cocoa, new oak and fir complement the juicy fruit melange. A full-bodied entry is succeeded by a mid-palate of dark fruits and a smooth, integrated minerality. The tannins are well developed, allowing the wine to finish with length.

  5. PILCROW 2017 CABERNET SAUVIGNON "GHOST BLOCK" YOUNTVILLE 750mL

    Item #: i_251170
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Pilcrow was founded by wine-industry veteran Sara Beer. Raised in the United States by European parents, Sara discovered her passion for food, wine, and travel early in life. Taking on the role of winemaker was a new one for Sara. She has been the grateful beneficiary of tremendous tutoring from many role models, mentors, and friends. Her role models include those who have made some of the great wines dotting the hillsides of the Napa Valley; think Mayacamas, Diamond Creek, and Dunn. Her mentors include some of the most thoughtful vintners in both the new world and the old, including John Williams, Jean-Michel Comme, and Jean-Nicolas Meo. Her friends—including Marco DiGiulio, Keith Emerson and Toshiaki Wakayama—have helped define, challenge, and develop the wine itself.

The Ghost Block vineyard is a unicorn of sorts, being a "mountain" vineyard on the valley floor. The old vines of Ghost Block sit on the side of Yountville Hill—a mountaintop that formerly resided high above the Stags Leap District in the Vaca Mountains. Some eight million years ago, in a cataclysmic event, a portion of the Vacas toppled, tossing a peak to the west. This relocated peak (Yountville Hill) got turned on its side, revealing a unique, vertical bedding of rarely-everexposed Napa Tertiary Volcanics. Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon interprets this soil construct with soft, plush tannins and nervous, bright acidity. Downvalley cool mornings add a touch of black tea and rose petal to the varietal traits of blackberry and cassis, all wrapped in old-Napa elegance.

    Item #: i_275830
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Jeb Dunnuck: 95 Points
JEB DUNNUCK 95 POINTS - "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate from this great estate checks in as 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot. Its deep, saturated purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of blueberries, red plums, toasted spices, incense, and pen ink. This is a big, rich, pedal-to-the-metal beauty that stays remarkably well-balanced, has notable freshness and purity, and sweet tannins, which can be hard to find in the 2017 vintage. It's an undeniable success."

ANTONIO GALLONI 94 POINTS - "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a gorgeous wine that captures all of the natural intensity of the year. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and leather all flesh out in the glass. Ample, creamy and generous, the Estate is terrific from the very first taste. In this vintage, the Estate is not too far off from the Reserve. Best of all the Estate will drink well with minimal cellaring. Rose petal, mint and cinnamon notes add brightness as the wine opens in the glass."

  8. PULIDO-WALKER 2017 CABERNET SAUVIGNON "PANEK" NAPA VALLEY 750mL

    Item #: i_249310
    Bottle Size: 750ml
    Jeb Dunnuck: 95 Points
While on our annual winter trip to the Napa Valley in 2013, we were invited to the "kick off" for a new winery named Pulido-Walker, and the first of their three single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons. That wine was the single best wine we had on our entire trip!

Pulido-Walker is dedicated to the perfection of every element needed to craft exceptional single-vineyard designate Cabernet Sauvignon. Proprietors Mark Pulido and Donna Walker grew up in pharmacy families, and this early common experience is integral to the Pulido-Walker philosophy. Their scientific backgrounds make Mark and Donna precise, inquisitive, and detailed; they know that perseverance and attentive observation yield results worth waiting for. Few people have the commitment or the endurance—never mind the conviction of their principles—to completely reframe the experiment mid-stream.

Their winemaker is the highly sought-after Thomas Brown, who also crafts the high scoring and incredible wines at Schrader, Maybach, Outpost, and others. He has been in Napa since 1997, where he began his career at Turley Cellars and now makes wines for select premium labels. Over the last decade, Thomas has received not just one but eight 100-point Wine Advocate Parker scores to go along with two 100-point awards from Wine Spectator. Beyond generosity and roundness in tannins, his wines have few common traits and are very individual. Pulido~Walker's Cabernet Sauvignons promise to be among his most distinctive.

"What separates the best valley floor sites from good valley floor sites is their ability to drain," explains winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Panek Vineyard blankets a rocky, gently sloping knoll in the shadow of the Mayacamas Mountains along the old Napa River bed wash. The loamy soil, with its highly compacted alluvial deposits of gravel, provides optimal drainage. The valley basin is also more temperate than the hillsides surrounding St. Helena, making it ideal for slower ripening and full development of flavors. These elements coalesce in low yields of reliably superb fruit.

JEB DUNNUCK 95+ POINTS - "Lots of dark fruits, scorched earth, tobacco, and some Pauillac-like lead pencil notes emerge from the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is 100% varietal from a great vineyard in St. Helena. With medium to full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and impressive balance, this savory, meaty Cabernet is going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and drink beautifully for 15-20 years or more."

  9. QUILT 2017 CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY 750mL

    Item #: i_252430
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon is the newest wine produced by Joe Wagner, a 5th generation wine maker who grew up immersed in wine, working during breaks from school at his family's winery, Caymus. Joe's reputation skyrocketed a few years back with the creation of Meiomi and Belle Glos Pinot Noirs, which quickly became household names known for their rich, lush appeal. The Quilt takes a similar approach in style, sourcing from a patchwork of prime Napa Valley vineyards.

Deep dark ruby in color with a hint of brick red around the edges, this wine has striking aromas of dark chocolate, blackberry jam, toasted oak and hazelnut with hints fo red berry fruit, baking spices and vanilla. The flavors are broad and mouth-filling, with a satisfying mix of flavors ranging from rich molasses, stewed rhubarb, tobacco and nutmeg that integrate into a long satisfying finish complemented by balanced acidity, and smooth, velvety tannins. It's everything you would expect from the Wagner Family at a price that is affordable!

  10. RABBLE 2017 CABERNET SAUVIGNON PASO ROBLES 750mL

    Item #: i_222880
    Bottle Size: 750ml
Formerly known as "Force of Nature"

A lifeling agriculturalist, Rob Murray's passion is to honor the character of the site, above all else, believing that Nature is the true farmer, and himself only its steward. At Mossfire Ranch indigenous grasses populate the vineyard rows, irrigation is used sparingly and vines are trained individually to ensure the site shines through in the final fruit.

Located in Paso Robles, Mosfire Ranch was planted in 1996 on steep hillsides and a rolling valley floor, the vineyard weathers 40 degree diurnal shifts, snow dustings, summer sun and bitter winds. The extremity of the climate creates fruit of uncommon concentration and uniform ripeness.

The 2017 Rabble Cabernet Sauvignon displays classic Cabernet notes of red plum, red currant, cassis and hint of tobacco leaf lift from the glass. Undertones of French oak, vanilla and dried sage add the complexity of the aromatics. On the palate, plush red cherry is rounded out with strong acidity and an old-world style tannin profile.

    Jeb Dunnuck: 96 Points
JEB DUNNUCK 96-99 POINTS - "Lastly, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon LPV Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard (which is also the base for the Colesworthy release) is pulled all from Block C and is clone 337, still aging in a mix of new Darnajou and Taransaud barrels. It's a deep, rich, serious wine that has a huge nose of black, black fruits, graphite, crushed rocks, and chocolate. It doesn't pull any punches on the palate either and is full-bodied, deep, dense, and straight-up bad ass. It's an awesome wine in the making, but as with a few of these other 2017s, short-term cellaring is going to be the name of the game."

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 94-96 POINTS - "A barrel sample, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Lpv has quite an earthy nose to begin, offering black cherry and blueberry pie notions plus touches of dried roses, incense, dusty soil and violets with a waft of dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied, with great concentration and firm tannins with a touch of chew, finishing long."

Focusing on small production wines with quality at the forefront, their wines have earned high scores from the critics and praise from consumers, too! Super-ripe dark cherry, cloves, menthol, licorice and earthy notes give the 2017 a distinctly dark, exotic feel. Plush and generous on the palate with sweet, silky tannins, the 2017 is a big wine that will drink well right out of the gate. I wouldn't push my luck on aging here, though."

Spottswoode is one of the unquestionable superstars of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. For over 40 years the Novak family has farmed their grapes with the sole intention of producing the best Cabernet Sauvignon that they can, and it now rivals the best in the world! Their property is located in western St. Helena, located in the upper region of the Napa Valley. Butted against the gorgeous backdrop of the Mayacamas Mountains, the vines are planted in soils that are high in gravel and clay content. This brings ripe, rich fruit flavors while naturally retaining the structure and backbone that so many other producers struggle to maintain. Spottswoode was among the first wineries to have adopted organics, having farmed their vineyard organically since 1985 and acquired California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) certification in 1992.

Produced in small quantities, Spottswoode is a wine that is not easy to secure. That being said, we have been loyal supporters of the Novak and Milliken families for decades, and this year we received this truly stunning wine in four sizes: half bottles, regular 750mL bottles, magnum bottles, and even a double magnum! This is not the first time Spottswoode has crafted a wine that earned the perfect 100 point score, but this year it has earned 100 points from both Jeb Dunnuck, as well as Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate)!

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 97+ POINTS - "Made of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color and prances out of the glass with vivacious blackberries, crushed black cherries, warm black currants and red currant jelly scents plus exotic hints of cassia, cardamom, fenugreek and star anise with a waft of underbrush. Medium-bodied, the palate has fantastic energy and beautiful poise, with bags of bright, crunchy black and red fruit plus a firm, fine-grained texture, finishing long and spicy."

ANTONIO GALLONI 96 POINTS - "Spottswoode's 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon has been simply tremendous on both occasions I have tasted it so far. Sweet red cherry, red plum, flowers and mint give the 2017 striking freshness to complement its decidedly mid-weight structure. The intense heat of the vintage caused ripening to slow down and yielded a wine with just 13.7% alcohol, which is low for both the estate and Napa Valley in general. Spottswoode was one of the first estates in the valley to adopt a more moderate approach to farming and that really paid off in 2017, as a wine of this level in that year could have only resulted from impeccable farming. In a word: magnificent!"

JEB DUNNUCK 96 POINTS - "Looking at the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which was bottled two months prior to my tasting, it too has a Chateau Margaux-like complexity and elegance, with beautiful notes of crème de cassis, sandalwood, dried flowers, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil. Harvested all pre-fire, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, silky tannins, and remarkable purity, all making for a quintessential Spottswoode that's going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and keep for 20+ years."

Harvested all pre-fire, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, silky tannins, and remarkable purity, all making for a quintessential Spottswoode that's going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and keep for 20+ years."
