The United States is a significant producer of sparkling wine with producers in numerous states. The classic example of a sparkling wine is Champagne which is exclusively produced in the Champagne region of France. Sparkling wine has significant levels of carbon dioxide in it, making it fizzy. The carbon dioxide may result from natural fermentation, either in a bottle (as with the traditional method), in a large tank designed to withstand the pressures involved, or as a result of carbon dioxide injection. Sparkling wine is usually white or rosé but there are many examples of red sparkling wines such as Italian Brachetto. The sweetness of sparkling wine can range from very dry "brut" to sweeter "extra dry". Most countries reserve the word Champagne for a specific type from the Champagne region of France.

DECANTER 91 POINTS - "Elegantly opens with fresh lemon peel, honeysuckle and autolysis aromas. Followed by a mix of apple and citrus notes with toast, caramel and almond flavours on the mid-palate. Lively acidity of citrus zest leads to a long, warm pear and lush aftertaste. Layers of depth and complexity."

Notes of strawberry, raspberry, watermelon, cherry, white peach, nectarine and apricot are joined by white flowers and a hint of creaminess. The bubbles dance on the tongue with mouth-watering acidity that leaves one wanting more.
Primarily Pinot Noir with a bit of Chardonnay (10%), the fruit was left in contact with the skins to get the perfect color, a traditional, natural technique preferable to blending back red wine. Several different aromatic and Rosé yeasts were used during fermentation in 100% stainless steel for freshness."

The Pinot Noir dominated blend provides impressive red-fruited dimension to the ripe pear, fig and roast hazelnut. The middle palate is invigorated with dynamic acid backbone and edgy minerality, bringing balance and concentration to the long finish. "

We take advantage of the late ripening spot to retain bright, fresh acidity and mineral edge. The balance of the wine is equally blended between the aforementioned Knudsen Vineyard and our younger, but equally high elevation Spirit Hill Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills. The color is bright, pale salmon pink, while its bouquet is full of rose petal, cherry kernel, and pomegranate. The barrel aging of the red wine component contributes to its savory complexity, while its delicate, creamy bead leads to a long textural finish."
- Item #: i_210320Bottle Size: 750MLWINE ENTHUSIAST 90 POINTS - "A nice, everyday bubbly that offers elegance at an affordable price. Chardonnay contributes crisp flavors of limes, while Pinot Noir brings deeper flavors of cherries. A lovely wine that grows in the glass."
Classic balance typifies this refreshingly soft, yet dry wine. The wine delivers complex apple and pear characteristics accented by citrus spice over notes of almond and caramel in the bouquet. Look for nutty flavors with hints of brioche that build to a refreshingly dry finish.
- Item #: i_275157Bottle Size: 750MLWinemaker's Notes - In keeping with the traditional method, we add a small amount of red wine (Pinot Noir) prior to tirage to create the distinctive salmon color with copper hues. The wine's aroma is rich yet elegant with strawberry and red currant fruit layered over notes of nutmeg and cocoa. A bold, yet refined palate structure characterizes this wine with subtle but persistent flavors of raspberry and French toast. The wine finishes with excellent length and richness that will stand up to a variety of foods

- Item #: i_264004Bottle Size: 750mlAs we finally swing into spring and look ahead to months of relaxed outdoor entertaining, it is high time (sorry pun intended) to stock up on bargain patio quaffers like this frothy Washington state gem.
For nearly 40 years, Domaine Ste. Michelle has crafted traditional French-style sparkling wines using premium grapes from the Evergreen States’s Columbia Valley.
This bubbly is a nifty blend of 63% Chardonnay, 19% Pinot Noir, and 18% Pinot Gris. It is finished with a slightly sweeter dosage, not unlike an Italian Prosecco, but with a finer effervescence wrought by the traditional Méthode Champenoise-as opposed to the less costly Charmant process. Here one is treated to delicate aromas of orange and lemon zest followed by appetizing flavors of green apples, Bosc pears, and Meyer lemons. Warning, be sure to have a chilled back up bottle at the ready because this is a real crowd pleaser that will quickly have your guests begging for more. This is a fine value at twelve dollars so we know our offer may seem a little too good to be true. Trust us it’s not, we are selling only freshly corked inventory bearing the winery's newly redesign label.

It’s worth buying most of all for the taste, a rich, measured and dry expression of apple, pear and lime with depth and an adornment of floral honeysuckle aromas."
- Item #: i_232140Bottle Size: 750MLWine Advocate: 90The wine opens with aromas of raspberry, mandarin orange peel and nutmeg. In the mouth stone fruit, pink grapefruit, Tahitian lime, blood orange, raspberry with a gentle mouthfeel. A food friendly wine that works with most styles, sauces and preparations.
Pairs well with full flavored fish, pork chops, and chicken. Also try with crispy kale and stir fried vegetables. All you really need is dark, bittersweet chocolate!
