Vineyard owners Dan and Helen Dusschee planted the iconic Freedom Hill Vineyard in 1981. Their son, Dustin, has recently taken over the farming responsibility in yet another generation of sustainable stewardship and maintaining the family legacy. Freedom Hill Vineyard is tucked into the coast range on a gentle southeast slope. Protected from the Van Duzer coastal winds, this vineyard has a warmer climate than those of the neighboring Eola-Amity Hills. The soils here are a sedimentary, uplifted seabed and are thought to be among the oldest in the region. These ancient soils, combined with the vineyard's microclimate and Dustin’s meticulous farming practices, consistently produce lovely, intricate Chardonnays.

ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA 94 POINTS - "Vivid straw-yellow. Incisive, mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruits on the assertively perfumed nose, along with hints of succulent flowers, oyster shell and buttered toast. Lush and creamy but focused as well, offering concentrated, mineral-driven pear, Meyer lemon and peach melba flavors and a touch of bitter quinine. Turns firmer on the sharply detailed, impressively long finish, which repeats the citrus and mineral notes and leaves a honeysuckle flourish behind. 40% new oak."

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 92 POINTS - "The 2018 Freedom Hill Chardonnay has delicate wafts of almonds, hay and apples on the nose with a streak of gunflint. The palate is light-bodied and silky, with seamless freshness and understated but layered flavors."
