Rich, ample and explosive, the Grand Reserve offers plenty of intensity and immediacy, if less of the finesse of some of the other wines in the range. The 20% Pinot Noir adds breadth and volume to the Chardonnay core, but also a certain element of rusticity in the mouthfeel. Dried pear, smoke, red stone fruit and pastry meld into the deep finish.
