JEB DUNNUCK 94-96 POINTS - "A big step up, the 2018 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes is a remarkable effort offering gorgeous black raspberries, garrigue, spice, and floral aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, pure, and balanced, with beautiful depth of fruit, it's up with the top wines in the vintage. This cuvée is 90% Grenache and the balance Syrah and Mourvèdre, fermented with lots of stems, and aged in once- and twice-used barrels followed by a year in foudre.

As I’ve written in the past, this is a top-flight estate making a bevy of brilliant wines from both the northern and southern Rhône. The wines fall into the progressive category and are largely brought up in barrels, with some new, yet the wines never lose their typicity or character. If you like rich, textured, yet pure and impeccably made wines, give these a go.

WINE ENTHUSIAST 94 POINTS - "Spicy hits of clove, nutmeg and cinnamon entice on the nose of this full-bodied, luminous red. An invigorating blend of Grenache (80%), Mourvèdre (10%) and Syrah (10%), it offers youthful blackberry and plum flavors etched by hints of lavender, sage and bramble. A lovely, unadorned expression of Gigondas best now–2030."
