The Testa vineyard is a special place just north of Ukiah in Mendocino County. Rusty and Maria Martinson care for the vineyard and are the fourth generation in the family to do so. The 90-year old Carignane vines are organic and dryfarmed. They are among other very old vine blocks of Grenache and Petite Sirah. The vineyard is situated on deep cobbly loam soils and has a warm continental Mendocino climate.
This wine is black ruby in color. It shows a definite spicy edge of cinnamon cedar and sandalwood and a concentrated aroma of black cherry skin and earthy cocoa and leather. It is a savory but intensely fruit driven wine with moderate tannin and a refreshing juiciness.
