News flash: lightning has struck twice! Just a few weeks ago we notified our loyal clientele of the incredible Roserock Pinot Noir that earned a notable 94 points, and that wine has temporarily sold out. Now, it is Roserock's Chardonnay that has earned a similar 93-point score, and this time it's from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate!

To reiterate and summarize, it was the Drouhin's who were the first Burgundy family to stake a major claim into this now world-renowned wine region back in 1987. In 2013, the Drouhin family purchased the Roserock property; an extraordinary vineyard at the southern tip of the Eola-Amity Hills, in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Ancient volcanic soils and an ideal elevation range produce classic cool-climate Pinot Noirs that evoke a true sense of place. During the warm growing season, ocean breezes funneled through Oregon's Coast Range blow along the Van Duzer Corridor every evening, chilling this part of the Eola-Amity Hills more than ten degrees cooler than northern Willamette Valley sub-appellations. These maritime winds make for fruit that's lively with acidity and distinct in its freshness of flavor.

As a testament to the Drouhin family's commitment to sustainable viticulture that supports soil health and biodiversity, the property is LIVE certified. LIVE (Low Input Viticulture & Enology) meets strict international standards for environmentally and socially responsible winegrowing.

2022 was a wonderful vintage in the Willamette Valley! Collectors are flocking to this vintage, and it is a worthy successor to the other notable vintage of recent years, such as 2017, 2019, and 2021. Right out of the gate, the 2022s give notable aromatics, along with ripe, juicy fruit flavors that retain freshness and elegance. This is done by handpicking and hand sorting the estate's three Chardonnay blocks. Then, the wine is fermented in both tank (to retain vibrancy) and oak barrels (to enhance richness and volume of the wine). Then, Véronique Drouhin blends the right amount of each fermentation together, so the finished wine has the utmost balance.

The 2022 Roserock Chardonnay is a ray of sunshine from an exciting vintage, and the pale flaxen yellow hue hints at the vintage's fresh charm! A swirl of zesty lemon curd, white flowers, thyme, and a hint of sea breeze all combine in a fresh and complex nose. On the palate, the wine tilts to the lighter side of medium-bodied, with a balanced mix of orange burst, pie, peach pit, and a touch of vanilla. The delicious finish is bright and round.

  • Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rated this at 93 points and calls it "compelling"
  • Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media rated this at 92 points and states "beautifully lifted and finessed"

  • We call this, one of the perfectly refreshing Chardonnays for the summer!

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 93 POINTS - "The 2022 Chardonnay unfurls slowly in the glass to reveal peach preserves, quince paste, allspice, hazelnut, toast and beeswax aromas. The light-bodied palate features a compelling textural grip and expansive, spicy flavors. Its concentration is balanced by fireworks of fresh acidity, and it has a long, savory finish."

ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA 92 POINTS - "The 2022 Chardonnay Roserock is youthfully understated and savory, with dusty florals and ginger-spiked green apples forming its delicate bouquet. This is cool-toned and perfumed within, beautifully lifted and finessed with ripe pit fruits, gaining a creamy texture the longer it sits on the palate. This finishes long with a mineral clay-like resonance and lingering floral complexities."
