We are always on the prowl for wines that over deliver and offer delicious drinkability at an outstanding price. We found such a wine with Monsegur Family Vineyards from the highly acclaimed 2019 vintage in Bordeaux. This Cabernet dominant blend is built to please and a perfect choice for Wine of the Month as we move into the Fall season. It's hard to believe a $10 wine from Bordeaux can be this good!

The 2019 Monsegur is a delicious wine and a fantastic value-a pairing we love! We tasted this and loved the quality of the perfectly ripened fruit, which is really a hallmark of the great 2019 vintage in Bordeaux. This wine echoes some of the outstanding values we have featured recently such as Chateau Belle-Vue, Chateau Bourdieu and Chateau La Prade.

Aromas of ripe fruits and savory elements are inviting with plums, mixed red and black fruits, wood spice and a touch of earth. This is attractive and balanced! On the palate, fruit is the star of the show with more plum flavors aided by notes of boysenberry and delicious black cherries. The supporting cast is clearly on point with fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity providing freshness. The fruit meanders across the tongue culminating in a long, luxurious finish-like the farewell to summer as we warmly greet the fall season.

Located on a spur overlooking the Drot river, Monségur was founded in 1265 by Eleanor of Provence, wife of Henry III Plantagenet, King of England and Duke of Aquitaine. This Bordeaux blend is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Merlot, which is grown on clay-limestone soil. The resulting quality is noticeable in the glass.

This is a delicious, crowd-pleasing Bordeaux which totally over-delivers. We are thrilled to offer this amazing value for $9.95 per bottle.
