In a vintage whose character is more of finesse than power, the Istine vineyard in the Radda area is even more so. It's high-altitude, north-facing, and based on calcareous clay soils; the result is a medium-light-bodied Sangiovese of lighter color, lean in its fleshiness of fruit but layered with finessed aromas and flavors, along with a fine structure of mineral acidity and light grip of chalky tannins. While delicious now with 30 minutes of air, try this in 2024-2026 as it develops complexity and a silkier texture.
