Glenglassaugh Sandend is inspired by the crescent beach of Sandend Bay where the distillery resides. Enriched in bourbon, sherry and manzanilla casks, over time the lush flavor of Glenglassaugh Sandend brightens into waves of tropical sweetness, infused with a crack of sea salt.
This wonderful single malt scored 95 Points in Whiskey Advocate, and was the #1 whiskey overall for the year of 2023.
Appearance: gold amber hue.
Nose: soft butter with crazy vanilla notes and tropical fruit, and a touch of chocolate and sea salt.
Palate: The taste is a tidal wave of salted-caramel, with inspiring notes of pineapple, cherry and grapefruit, with of course a tab of sea salt.
The whiskey is 50.5 ABV or 101 proof,and we might add that once bought there is a good chance you will finish a bottle in one sitting! Beware!
Note: blended by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie (also blends GlenDronach, BenRiach) who we love seeing in the shop when she's in town. We had a tasting of her distillates a few years ago in Newport Beach at The Winery Restaurant and it was a sold-out, amazing affair!
