ANTONIO GALLONI 96 POINTS - "Few winemakers can match Todd Alexander's talent and pedigree. Formerly at Bryant Family Vineyards, Alexander is known for making deeply concentrated wines from the estate vineyard set on Red Mountain."

"The 2019 Syrah Estate has 2% Viognier co-fermented and underwent 18% whole-cluster fermentation. Dark currants, coffee grounds and violets all fill the nose, along with herbal undertones. The densely concentrated palate shows great finesse and layers of black and blue fruits with tar and black licorice tones. This is up there with the finest Syrah of Red Mountain."

JEB DUNNUCK 95-97 POINTS - "Previously known as Grand Reve, Force Majeure has skyrocketed to the top of the pyramid in Washington State, in no small part due to their talented winemaker, Todd Alexander, who moved from Bryant Family in Napa to Washington State to focus on this estate. While the focus is on their Red Mountain Vineyard, they make a bevy of world-class wines from throughout the Columbia Valley. Anyone doubting the quality coming from Washington State these days owes it to themselves to try these wines."

"Lots of blue fruits, candied violets, chocolate, and gamey notes emerge from the 2019 Syrah Red Mountain Estate, which is a primary, unevolved, slightly hard to read barrel sample. It has terrific fruit, ripe tannins, and a big finish, with a bloody, iron-like character on the palate. It's going to need some year in the cellar to come together, but it has an almost Hermitage-like stature and structure."
