Randy Dunn's wines are perennially legends in the making, and some of the longest-lived Cabernet Sauvignons in the world! Just ask anybody who has managed to hang on to the Dunn Cabernets from the 1980s, as those wines are quite drinkable, but have the potential to age for several more decades. After making highly-acclaimed wines for others, Randy and his wife Lori bought a 14-acre parcel in Angwin with about 5 acres of Cabernet vines on it. After buying adjoining properties, Randy and his family now farm 42 acres on Howell Mountain. This area makes some of the most iconic wines in the Valley, as the temperatures are more moderate than the valley floor, and the small berries make for intensely-flavored and structured wines. The Dunn Cabernets, with their iconic red wax capsule, are staples in the cellar of any collector or wine aficionado.
ANTONIO GALLONI 97 POINTS - "The 2017 Cabernets are some of the most impressive wines I have ever tasted from Randy and Mike Dunn. The wines are a bit richer and riper than in the past, but they also have plenty of the Dunn signatures readers have come to expect. I followed the 2017s over several days, and they just got better and better over time."
"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is sure to make Dunn fans happy. Powerful and ample, it marries the natural intensity of the year with the savoriness that makes Howell Mountain Cabernets so distinctive. Dark blue/purplish fruit, graphite, spice, leather, dried herbs and lavender imbue the 2017 with striking intensity and character. I can't wait to see how it ages. The 2017 is a positively stunning edition of the Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon."
