Seven is Dragonette's Syrah-based blend, originally named for the seven exceptional cool climate vineyard sites from which it was comprised. They have refined their vineyard sources for this wine over the years, selecting precise blocks and clones to increase aromatic and flavor complexity, rather than sheer fruit power. The 2018 Seven is comprised of 95% Syrah, 4% Grenache and 1% Viognier. The wine is sourced from John Sebastiano Vineyard, Stolpman Vineyard, Larner Vineyard, Kimsey, and Spear. The wine was aged in French oak barrels and puncheons (5% new) for 17 months before blending and bottling.

ANTONIO GALLONI 94 POINTS - "I was blown away by the wines I tasted with the team at Dragonette. This is a seriously impressive range. Some of the wines are perhaps a bit pushed in style, which I personally enjoy less, but all the wines are distinctive and full of character, from the four Sauvignon Blancs all the way through to the Pinot Noirs and Syrahs. In Santa Barbara, I am looking for an expression of place, and these wines deliver that in spades. Stylistically, the wines lean into the richer end of the spectrum."

"The 2019 Seven is bright, bold and punchy, much of that attributable to the greater presence of Ballard Canyon fruit in the blend. Red berry fruit, blood orange and sweet perfumed floral accents lend brilliance throughout. I especially admire the energy here."

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 94+ POINTS - "Medium ruby-purple, the 2019 Syrah Seven features black and red currants with nuances of aniseed, tobacco leaves, dried lavender and olive. The palate is chalky and fresh with crunchy black fruits and bright acidity, and there's a flourish of dark spices and earthy accents on the long finish."
