We recently sent out an email for Domaine Lafage's Cuvee Nicolas and the wine sold out in less than a day! Of course, it really wasn't much of a surprise as the quality to price ratio is off the charts with this 95 Point value. We just received more so if you missed out the first time, you have another opportunity.

Jean Marc Lafage is unquestionably one of the best value producers in France, if not the world. By now, you are probably well aware of his Syrah/Grenache blend Bastide Miraflors which has been a customer favorite and one of our top wines for the past several years. He is also responsible for the amazingly affordable and delicious best-sellers Narassa and Novellum Chardonnay.

His Cuvee Nicholas Grenache is made in the same full-bodied, fruit- forward style we love. It boasts expressive aromatics and freshness, making you want to take another sip. Rhone loving critic Jeb Dunnuck rated this wine 95 Points, calling it a wine which is "Rich, medium to full-bodied, and gorgeously textured" and “another insane value from this team."

Jeb Dunnuck continues, "While it's easy to write off these value-priced releases as fruit bombs, please taste the wines! They have beautiful purity of fruit, impeccable balance and each release has their own unique character. At this price, this is an absolute no-brainer."

When it comes to quality-to-price ratios, no one does it better than proprietor Jean Marc Lafage. Located just outside of Perpignan, this estate has a wealth of old vines and vineyards to pull from, and the addition of a state-of-the-art new winery has only given them more quality control.

If you are looking for a big, bold crowd-pleasing wine this should be right in your wheelhouse. Buy it by the case and drink it over the coming 2-3 years.

JEB DUNNUCK 95 POINTS - "All Grenache brought up in demi-muids and aged on lees for 8 months, the medium ruby/purple hued color of the 2019 Cuvée Nicolas is followed by a killer bouquet of kirsch liqueur, savory spices, cured meats, and peppery garrigue. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and gorgeously textured, it has wonderful richness with no sensation of weight or heaviness. It's another insane value from this team."
