The Cuvée L'Artiste is defined as: "a person dedicated to the expression of beauty." It is fashioned from two selected Trépail lieux-dits with Chardonnay vines between 30 and 50 years old. Léclapart uses a combination of enamel-lined tanks and neutral Domaine Leflaive Burgundy barrels for primary fermentation. Here one is treated to inflections of mint, spice and blanched almonds over a bedrock of taut Chardonnay fruit while the barrel fermentation and extra bottle-aging adds texture and complexity to the ensemble. This edition of "L'Artiste is a well-developed representation of the house style and can be viewed as David's signature cuvée.
