The Cuvee Alexandre Cabernet Sauvignon comes from ancient vines planted in 1920 in the heart of the Colchagua Valley on steep granite-based soils. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Colchagua is situated about 200km southwest of Santiago, between the Andes mountains and the coastal range.

The vineyards here enjoy a North to South aspect - key ingredients in producing such a rich, yet elegant and age worthy wine. Perfectly balanced living conditions for the vine produce a wine rich and heady with aromatics of cassis, huckleberry and sage, with hints of peppercorn, conifer forest and violet. The palate is full-bodied and round with velvety tannins framing the fruit thanks to judicious use of premium French oak barrels, 13% of which are new.
The finish goes on and on and a purity of fruit brings you back to the glass. This Cabernet will please palates of both the new and old world, deftly walking a tightrope between California and French style. Completely unique and unmistakably Chilean, however, this is a fantastic example of what pedigree can be accomplished in this young wine producing country. The price makes it irresistible!

WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "The 2015 Cuvée Alexandre Cabernet Sauvignon was produced with a field blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc planted in 1920 in Apalta. It's a classical expression from Colchagua, with some fennel notes and abundant but fine-grained tannins and good length."

JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS - "A very complex cabernet with violet, blackcurrant and lavender character. Some mint. Full body, firm and velvety tannins and a cedar and hazelnut finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes."
