This tiny production Croatian bottling is made from the grape variety Plavac Mali which is a relative of Zinfandel. The dog pictured on the label makes reference to the wild "cagalj" dogs which roam the hillsides of the Peljesac Peninsula where this wine was grown. Beautifully structured, with very impressive density and length, this is unique stuff showing deep blackberry and black plum fruit and alluring notes of licorice and baking spice. The grapes were fermented using wild yeasts. The wine was then aged in neutral barrels for 12 months, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
