A.H. Hirsch Reserve is the manifestation of the American spirit. This exclusive bottling is the last small batch of A.H. Hirsch Reserve- all that is left to this historic treasure. Available in a humidor commemorative gift set. Widely acclaimed by authorities, A.H. Hirsch Reserve is that complete rarity: a whiskey of such uncompromising quality and individual character that words simply cannot do it justice. A thick-textured whiskey, which coats the mouth. Rich, complex flavors, very spicy, with plenty of mint, evergreen, dried apricots, toffee, and vanilla. Long soothing finish. A.H. Hirsch Reserve is the manifestation of the American Spirit. This extraordinary bourbon had a long, dramatic journey from its inception to this final bottling. In fact, the history behind A.H. Hirsch speaks volumes about why it is not just the finest American bourbon ever made, but indeed a rare national artifact. On the last day before prohibition, the line outside Michter's Distillery stretched 2.5 miles. Customers came on that cold day in 1919 to fill casks, bottles and tin cups and to drink their last rations of legal whiskey. A.H. Hirsch Reserve is a complete rarity- a whiskey of uncompromising quality and individual character. Matured in oak casks for 16 years, this whiskey shows the difference that traditional cask ageing makes. A must-have for any whiskey lover. This is an exquisite, keepsake presentation for the last remaining bottles of the legendary A.H. Reserve 16 year old Bourbon.

ROBERT PARKER 95 POINTS - "Alpha Omega's 2013 ERA is a selection of the best lots from all of their single vineyards, and even though it is a proprietary red, this version is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. The wine is tightly coiled, very reserved, with relatively high tannin, but a saturated purple color, and shows notes of charcoal, incense, white flowers and black and blue fruits. It's all there, but this wine begs for 5-8 years of bottle age before consumption. It should last for 25-30 years as well."

ROBERT PARKER 98 POINTS - "The winemaker behind the Anakota high-elevation mountain vineyard sites in Knights Valley is no other than Pierre Seillan, the Bordelais guru who makes the fabulous wines of Verite from the same proprietor, the Jackson family. There are two cuvees from various elevations in Knights Valley, the lower elevation called Helena Montana and the higher site, the Helena Dakota. Production of these cuvees ranges from the smallest in 2013, with just over 500 cases of each produced, jumping to 700-800 in 2014 and a whopping 1,000-1,300 in 2012 – the most generous of the three vintages. These are all 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% French oak and are meant for long, long-term aging. I would suggest that these may be, potentially, the longest-lived wines being made in Knights Valley, even exceeding the potential age-worthiness of the Peter Michael Les Pavots cuvees that are made in this microclimate on the Sonoma side, but near the Napa County line."

"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota (445 cases) is absolutely magnificent. Opaque black/purple in color, it comes across like a Chateau Montrose from a great vintage – a very earthy St.-Estephe-inspired wine with the essence of loamy soil and crushed rocks interwoven with blackberry and cassis fruit. Some oak makes an appearance, but it is pushed to the background by the extravagance and enormous body and extract of this wine of phenomenal intensity. This is a classic Pierre Seillan style of wine meant for 25-40 years of cellaring."

"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana offers chocolate, sweet black cherries, a dense purple color, great intensity and purity – a real mountain style, but with surprisingly soft tannins. It is easily a 30-year wine. The good news is that there are 520 cases of this big, boisterous, yet voluptuously textured offering from Anakota."

ANTONIO GALLONI 96 POINTS - "Once again, I was quite taken with Fritz Hatton's Arietta. The wines are made in small quantities and are available only in a few markets, but from a purely qualitative perspective, they are as good as anything being made in Napa Valley today. Sadly, rarely I hear any buzz about Arietta, and that is a shame, as the wines are gorgeous and distinctive. Winemaker Andy Erickson has done a terrific job with these new and upcoming releases."

"The 2013 Merlot Hudson Vineyard emerges from the oldest vines in Lee Hudson's famous Carneros vineyard. Deep, rich and unctuous, yet impeccably balanced throughout, the 2013 is a real head-turner. Layers of fruit open up in a distinctive, Merlot endowed with real depth and personality. The 2013 is even better from bottle than it was from barrel."

ROBERT PARKER 94 POINTS - "From the famed Hudson Vineyard, the 2013 Merlot tips the scales at nearly 15% alcohol and shows beautiful dark raspberry, chocolate and berry fruit, a lush, opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, beautiful purity and exceptional balance. There is not a trace of heat in the long, lusty hedonistic finish. Drink it over the next 10-15 years."

Arkenstone sits on a rocky and rugged slope high atop Howell Mountain, looking down into the Napa Valley. The vineyards change in elevation to the tune of 250 feet, and the soils are a mix of Tufa, iron rich red clay, and abundant rocky areas. Even though proprietors Ron and Susan Krausz planted their first vines on the property in 1998, it wasn't until several years later that their first "true" vintage was bottled.

With the help of the talented and famous winemaker Philippe Melka, Ron and Susan tasted many wines and blends from their property for many years. Each year, they listened to which techniques in the vineyard translated to better wine. Again, each year, they fine-tuned these practices until they were sure the vineyard was well-established, trained properly, and were producing world-class wines.

Enter Sam Kaplan; Arkenstone Vineyard Manager and Winemaker since their commercial release. Sam has, since day one at Arkenstone, farmed the vineyards organically. Sam is exceptionally knowledgeable, and not only uses Arkenstone's state-of-the-art winemaking facility to its fullest, but he also knows when to be "hands off", and let the vineyard's own characteristics shine; terroir, if you will.

The Arkenstone Obsidian consists entirely of fruit from their Howell Mountain Estate ranging from 1400’ to 1650’ on the western shoulder of the mountain. Each year the blend is comprised of the top performing blocks from 16 of theirr 22 blocks dedicated to the Obsidian. By having complete control over the vineyard Arkenstone is able to begin to shape the wines while on the vine. Once picked, they process all of the fruit at Arkenstone where the grapes are sorted and fed by gravity down into the fermentation hall. As the grapes come in, all lots are kept separate to ferment and age individually. Once the wines have aged about 11 months in barrel by lot, winemaker Sam Kaplan will begin to make the blend. Once blended, the wine will go back into barrel for an additional 11 months and then into bottle for an additional year before release.

ROBERT PARKER 97 POINTS - "The two blockbusters are proprietary reds, although certainly dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2012 Obsidian Proprietary Red is a 580-case blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot. A complex nose of spring flowers, white chocolate, black cherry and cassis as well as touches of blackberry and espresso is followed by a multi-layered wine with stunning concentration, seductive and sexy notes of low acidity, plenty of glycerin and sweet tannin. This is a full-bodied beauty that was aged 22 months in 100% French oak."

ROBERT PARKER 98+ POINTS - "The 2013 Obsidian (625 cases) is a similar but slightly different blend than its predecessor (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot, and the rest small portions of Malbec and Merlot). It has an opaque purple color and a stunning nose of acacia flowers, blackberries, licorice, forest floor, mocha/chocolate, and gobs of cassis fruit. Great intensity, a full-bodied, multi-layered mouthfeel, stunning purity, and a length of 45+ seconds make for an exquisite, full-throttle, yet beautifully intense Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that should dink well for 20-30 years."

Last year we attended the inaugural Sonoma County Barrel Auction. This was an event where wineries from throughout Sonoma County gathered to showcase wines that they have not bottled before, and to keep their wines unique, they don't plan on bottling them again! Last week we showcased the unique Pinot Noir from Patz & Hall, perhaps the best Pinot Noir they have ever made. This time, it's an amazing Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon blend from one of our favorite Sonoma County producers...Arrowood!

Arrowood Winery is pure Sonoma. The winery's influence in the region endures since the first wines were made three decades ago. Created exclusively for the Sonoma County Barrel Auction, Winemaker Kristina Weerner selected the top lots from the vintage to craft a unique blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Syrah comes from the Russian River Valley's acclaimed Saralee's vineyard. It is not uncommon for Arrowood's Syrah from this vineyard to score in the "outstanding" range with famed critic Robert Parker, and the Syrah for this blend was co-fermented with Viognier, which actually makes the wine darker and gives it more aromatics and texture. With that, they blended in 30% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Smothers-Remick Ridge Vineyard, a phenomenal property that sits roughly 600 feet above the valley floor in the northern Sonoma Mountains. It features 18 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon divided into 11 distinctive blocks that mirror the terroir. Known for its small, flavorful berries, this mountain site produced balanced wines with refined tannins. In the end, Kristina decided the best wine was blended of 70% Syrah and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon...and that's what we have here!

Only 10 cases were bottled, and you can't get this wine at the winery, even if you're a member of their wine club! This is a gorgeous red blend, and it displays a lovely ruby/garnet color with aromas of freshly crushed cherry, raspberry, red currant, strawberry shortcake, vanilla, and hints of oak. After a short bit of time to breathe, aromas of smoke, Asian spices, and grilled meat begin to emerge. On the palate, the subtle hints of spice continues, along with black fruit, black cherry, a briary quality, cured meat, and plum. The finish is fairly long, with pronounced tannins that give a nice frame to the wine. Absolutely delectable, this is a wine that can easily be enjoyed now, but will continue to develop nicely in the cellar for another 7-10 years!

eROBERT PARKER 98 POINTS:: "There are a mere 200 bottles of the 2004 La Vina de Andres Romeo. This wine is tightly wound and remains an infant developmentally. Nevertheless, all the ingredients for greatness are present but it will take a decade of cellaring for them to be full expressed. This sensational effort should easily drink well for 40-50 years like a great first growth Bordeaux."

JAMES SUCKLING 99 POINTS - "Super fresh, this is striking given the 10 years in the cellars; it has a fine citrus nose - plenty of lemon, grapefruit, yellow chalky notes, some lighter floral elements too. The palate is super dry (dosage at 3-4g) and there's a silky, sherbet-like texture, smooth, fine and long. The citrus flavours give way to the driving surging acidity, thunderous acidity, really driving and powerful. The finish twists very slowly through to light-toasted cashew fruit flavours, but lemon citrus prevails. This is thrilling Champagne. Disgorged 22nd October, 2013. Drink from 2016."

JOHN GILMAN-VIEW FROM THE CELLAR 95 POINTS - "The 2002 Bollinger R.D. is the finest young vintage of this bottling that I have ever had the pleasure to taste. The nose is still fairly tight and youthful, but also deep and pure, wafting from the glass in a mélange of tart orange, apple, stony minerality, sourdough bread, caraway seed, smokiness and a nice topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and nascently complex, with a rock solid core, utterly refined mousse, crisp acids and stellar length and grip on the perfectly balanced and very refined finish. I love the synthesis here of the depth and ripe purity of the 2002 vintage and the very tightly-knit and precise structural chassis of the wine. A beautiful wine in the making, the 2002 Bollinger R.D. is certainly drinkable today, but it will really blossom with three or four more years of bottle age."

WINERY NOTES -The launch of the 2002 vintage marks 50 years of Bollinger R.D., Madame Bollinger's great idea which she turned into reality with the 1952 vintage.

60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay drawn from 23 crus: 71% Grands Crus and 29% Premier Crus. More than a decade of cellar maturation on the yeast.

JANCIS ROBINSON 19 POINTS (19 out of 20) - "60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. 23 crus of which 71% are Grands Crus and the rest Premiers Crus. Dosage under 4 g/l. Very firm, savoury nose with Bollinger's trademark fungi. Very powerfully so but with excellent acidity and lift on the palate. This is touted as a 50th anniversary offering because the first RD (Recently Disgorged) vintage released on the UK market was the 1952, in 1967 (so it was three years older than this 2002). It was launched at the same time as the 1953 on the French and Swiss markets and the 1955 on the American and Italian markets. A nod to British taste for seriously mature champagne? This wine should not be served too cool. It has real weight - though does not taste heavy. I loved it on first release as Grande Annee and it is less austere now. A bit mellower and more open though still with the deep throat salve sensation on the finish."

ANTONIO GALLONI 96 POINTS - "The 2012 Melbury opens with exquisite floral aromatics and bright, red-fleshed fruit. Lithe and silky on the palate, with lovely overall precision, the Melbury is one of the more finessed wines in the BOND range. I imagine the 2012 will reward readers with a long and wide drinking window of pure pleasure. Some of the wines in the range are more attention grabbing. The Melbury draws the taster in with its seductive aromatics and sublime balance. What a gorgeous wine the 2012 has become."

ROBERT PARKER 95 POINTS - "These exceptionally impressive wines from Bill Harlan are all majestic in 2012. There are between 500 and 600 cases of each of these essentially single vineyard wines from five separate micro-climates in Napa Valley, with the exception of the Matriarch, which comes from the barrels and lots culled from the different single vineyards that were considered slightly more forward and less profound than the individual wines. All of them have great singularity and are made with absolutely no compromises. In the great vintages, such as 2012 and no doubt 2013, these wines clearly have 25-35+ years of aging potential. I wouldn't be surprised in certain years to see them go on for 50 or more years."

"From a 7-acre hillside vineyard overlooking Lake Hennessey, the 2012 Melbury, like its siblings, is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% new oak for a minimum of 24 to 28 months, then bottled unfiltered. The wine displays beautiful blackberry fruit, some charcoal, loamy soil undertones, forest notes, lots of spice, a full-bodied, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and a super finish of 45+ seconds. Even in a vintage like 2012, this wine ideally needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should keep for 30+ years."

"From a 7-acre parcel on Spring Mountain, the 2012 Pluribus Proprietary Red Wine exhibits the white flowers (acacia?), blueberry and black raspberry fruit that comes from this high elevation site. It is full-bodied but very tannic, backward, coiled and relatively tight, behaving in that sense more like a 2013 than a 2012. This wine is set for a long life of 30+ years. Forget it for another 4 or 5 years, then consume it over the following three decades."

ANTONIO GALLONI 95+ POINTS - "The 2012 Pluribus has softened considerably over the last year. White pepper, cranberry, chalk, blood orange and spices are some of the signatures. Precise and finely sculpted, the 2012 is all about finesse. There is plenty to like here."

A blend of 54% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, and 17% Counoise.

ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA93 POINTS - "As is the case with pretty much all of the top producers in Paso Robles, Eric Jensen continues to tweak his wines toward greater elegance. This year's set of releases show the result of that work. To be sure, these have always been rich, full-flavored wines, but recent vintages, despite having been made from low yields and predictably concentrated fruit, show unlikely vivacity and the balance to age. I also find a greater sense of oak integration, which makes the wines drinkable soon after release. That said these are concentrated, well-balanced wines that, in my opinion, really deserve to be cellared. Earlier this year Jensen bought back the adjacent 30-acre parcel he sold to Scott Hawley at Torrin in 2005, as Hawley decided to expand with a larger estate vineyard."

"Deep ruby. Intensely perfumed cherry compote, licorice and spicecake aromas open up with air and pick up suggestions of floral pastilles and smoky minerals. Stains the palate with lively, spice-tinged black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors lifted by a vibrant mineral element. At once concentrated and lithe, finishing with powerful thrust, youthful tannins and very persistent spice and mineral qualities."

WINE ADVOCATE 93 - 95 POINTS - "The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint Jacques has a perfumed bouquet with very pure, brambly red berry fruit, briary and cold stone that gently unfurls in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This is another linear, focused Gevrey-Chambertin cut from the same cloth as the Cazetiers: structured and focused towards the finish with superb mineralite and persistency in the mouth. This should be marvelous after bottling and really gets to grips with the propitious nature of the vineyard."

In a region now filled with big names, Daphne Glorian has been a quiet godmother to the younger generations of winemakers, continuing to promote the good name of Priorat with her exceptional and highly sought-after wines. Her boutique estate of 10 hectares barely produces 140 cases each year, so her first label, Clos Erasmus, is inevitably scarce and expensive. Deservedly so, however, as this is one of the regions' and indeed Spain's greatest of all red wines – rich, powerful, dense and exotically perfumed. Clos Erasmus is also one of the few Spanish wines ever to achieve 100 Parker points, proof that the Priorat region in the right hands produces wines to rival the finest from Rioja and Ribera Del Duero.

ANTONIO GALLONI 98 POINTS - "The 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella is compelling. With a little air, the tannins begin to soften, releasing a myriad of intense dark aromas and flavors. Bittersweet chocolate, cloves, violets, plums and blackberry jam cover every inch of the palate in a stunning, headspinning Amarone that captures all of the best qualities of the year. When Romano Dal Forno's wines are on, there is nothing quite like them, and that is certainly the case here. If opened young, the 2008 needs a little air. Actually, a lot of air."

JAMES SUCKLING 97 POINTS - "Wonderful aromas of rose petal, blackberry, sugared walnut and hints of sea salt. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a warm, enticing palate with dried fruits, blackberry, black olive and freshly cracked slate. Fabulous Amarone."
