In Oregon near Mount Hood you'll find a town called Pendleton famous for a rodeo "The Pendleton Round Up" which has been going on since 1910 - and that is how this whisky gets its name. The whisky is 100% rye, distilled in Canada, aged 12 years then imported, bottled and marketed by Hood River Distillers in Oregon where they use glacier-fed spring water from Mt. Hood to bring down to bottling proof. Aromas of caramel candy, maple, divinity, tapioca, stewed rye grain, spice, blossoms, raisins and subtle herbs lumber heavily in the glass. The palate begins by showing burned sugar, vanilla custard, pipe tobacco, dark fruits, spice cake and bran muffins with peach jam offset by peppery heat and spicy ginger. The finish is slow and clean with over ripe orange, oxidized pears and lingering spices. Try this neat, on the rocks or in a spirit forward cocktail.
